Job Description

The Medical Laboratory Technologist III will be responsible for providing diagnostic services and supporting the efficient operation of laboratory services within county health facilities. This role requires professionalism, accuracy, and dedication to patient care while ensuring adherence to established health and safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist III, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing diagnostic services by conducting laboratory tests and ensuring accurate results that support clinical decision-making.
  • Issuing blood and blood products to peripheral health facilities, ensuring proper storage and compliance with standard requirements for handling such products.
  • Supporting quality management systems to maintain high laboratory standards and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Working flexible shifts to ensure continuous service delivery, including night and weekend shifts when necessary.
  • Demonstrating a strong commitment to patient care, both for in-patients and out-patients, ensuring laboratory services contribute to effective treatment outcomes.
  • Responding to emergency calls promptly and efficiently, providing laboratory support during urgent healthcare needs.
  • Performing any other relevant duty as may be assigned within the County Health Department to ensure effective healthcare service delivery.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized and accredited training institution.
  • Possess a registration certificate with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
  • Have a valid practicing license from the KMLTTB.
  • Have a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
