Senior Recovery Manager- Corporate Recoveries
To lead a team of corporate recovery managers in evaluating, developing, and monitoring recovery action plans for non-performing large corporate accounts at minimal costs while maintaining compliance with credit policies and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tailored recovery strategies and action plans for non-performing debts to maximize recoveries and turnarounds.
- Lead detailed negotiations with customers to secure commitment to strategies that address business and bank risk concerns.
- Reduce non-performing debts through aggressive recovery efforts and viable restructuring options.
- Ensure full compliance with credit policies and Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) prudential guidelines.
- Minimize recovery costs by vetting invoices and negotiating upfront fees.
- Coach, guide, and motivate staff to enhance efficiency, productivity, and professional development.
- Recover written-off debts in alignment with prudential guidelines.
- Proactively develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, and foster cooperative relationships across the client value chain.
- Recommend new lending propositions and strategies, demonstrating sound judgment for deals within discretion and providing analysis for decisions beyond discretion.
- Supervise and monitor direct reports to ensure effective execution of recovery plans and compliance with agreed settlement arrangements.
- Review facilities through Credit Quest to determine optimal recovery options, including restructuring and asset classifications.
- Engage in correspondence with internal and external customers to facilitate recovery processes.
- Conduct meetings with debtors and service providers, including official visits to their operations.
- Supervise and guide direct reports to ensure alignment with recovery objectives.
- Monitor debtors’ compliance with agreed settlement arrangements to ensure timely execution.
The Person
For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:
- A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university
- A minimum of 8 years’ experience in Credit, including at least 8 years managing distressed corporate assets
- At least 5 years’ experience in bank operations, with a strong background in financial analysis and reporting
