Equip Africa Institute is seeking part-time tutors across several academic disciplines, categorized into departments and areas of specialization. Below are the available opportunities:

1. Department of Engineering

Programmes: Artisan, Certificate & Diploma
Areas of specialization:

  • Electrical Installation
  • Plumbing

Tutors in this department will focus on delivering hands-on technical training in engineering-related trades. They will prepare learners for careers in electrical systems, installation, and maintenance as well as plumbing works essential in construction and building services.


2. Department of Beauty and Fashion Design

Programmes: Artisan, Certificate & Diploma
Areas of specialization:

  • Hairdressing

7. Department of Languages – Short Courses

Languages Offered: German, French, English, and Italian
Levels: A1 (Low Beginner), A2 (Upper Beginner), B1 (Lower Intermediate), B2 (Upper Intermediate)

Tutors in the Languages Department will focus on developing learners’ communication skills in foreign languages. They will apply CEFR-aligned curricula and communicative methodologies to ensure students achieve practical fluency and cultural competence.


Job Responsibilities

Part-time tutors will be expected to:

  • Plan, prepare, and teach assigned units in accordance with course outlines and curricula.
  • Develop teaching and learning materials, maintain professional records, and track student progress, achievement, and attendance.
  • Create and deliver learning plans tailored to individual student needs.
  • Assess student work, conduct tests and examinations, and submit results on time.
  • Carry out practical instruction and supervise trainees’ assessments.
  • Maintain student portfolios and evidence of learning.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Support the Institute’s commitment to delivering high-quality, industry-relevant training.
  • Undertake other academic duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

To qualify for appointment as a tutor in Artisan, Certificate, and Diploma programmes:

  • An earned Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field from a recognized university.
  • At least three years teaching experience in a similar institution.
  • Registration as a Trainer with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).
  • Relevant industry work experience will be an added advantage.
  • Registration with a relevant Professional Body where applicable.
  • Completed pedagogy training.

To qualify for appointment to teach short courses in languages, candidates must:

  • Hold at least a B2 Proficiency Certificate or a relevant degree:
    • German: Goethe-Zertifikat
    • Italian: CELI (Certificato di Conoscenza della Lingua Italiana)
    • French: DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française)
    • English: Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics
    • Kiswahili: Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics
  • Have a minimum of two years teaching experience, preferably teaching up to B2 level.
  • Be experienced in CEFR-aligned curricula and communicative teaching methods.

Terms of Engagement

  • Successful candidates will be engaged on a contractual, part-time basis.
  • Tutors will receive a competitive remuneration package.
  • Qualified trainers will remain in the Equip Africa Institute database for five years, subject to satisfactory performance.
