Role Overview

The Business Development Officer – Retail Business will play a critical role in driving the growth of Madison’s retail business portfolio. The position is designed for individuals with strong sales acumen, a passion for building lasting client relationships, and the ability to thrive in a competitive financial services market.

The successful candidates will be directly responsible for acquiring and growing business from the retail sector, expanding Madison’s reach, and contributing to the overall revenue growth of the company. Key Responsibilities

The Business Development Officer – Retail Business will be expected to:

  • Drive Sales Growth: Grow sales of Unit Trust Funds and Wealth Management products marketed to the retail business sectors.
  • Expand Client Base: Increase the number of retail clients while maintaining strong, long-term client relationships.
  • Recruit and Train Agents: Recruit, train, and manage both branch and independent financial agents to enhance distribution channels.
  • Collaborate with Marketing: Work closely with the marketing team to design and execute marketing activities that generate increased business from targeted segments.
  • Achieve Targets: Consistently meet or exceed set sales and business growth targets.
  • Ensure Client Satisfaction: Maintain a high level of service delivery to enhance customer loyalty and repeat business.
  • Market Intelligence: Keep abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and client preferences to adjust strategies accordingly.

Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies

To succeed in this role, candidates are expected to demonstrate a strong mix of academic achievement, professional experience, and personal attributes. Specifically, the ideal candidate should have:

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in retail sales, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • Certification in sales and marketing courses (an added advantage).
  • Strong analytical skills, maturity, and self-drive.
  • Proven capacity in sales management and in building sustainable business relationships.
  • Adequate presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
