Job Description – Housekeeping Trainee
As a Housekeeping Trainee, you will be entrusted with responsibilities that combine hands-on guest room servicing, learning operational procedures, and contributing to the smooth running of the Housekeeping Department. The role is both practical and developmental, designed to ensure that by the end of your internship, you will have gained deep knowledge of housekeeping operations within a luxury hotel setting.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Departmental Trainer and Training Manager, your tasks will include:
- Guest Room and Public Area Cleaning:
- Clean corridors and public areas around guest rooms assigned to you.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and pantries to meet set hygiene and safety standards.
- Guest Service:
- Stay informed about hotel products and services to answer guest questions accurately.
- Respond to guest requests in a friendly, professional manner and take appropriate action or refer to relevant colleagues where necessary.
- Deliver items such as extra towels or amenities as requested by guests.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Record relevant details on assignment sheets for proper documentation and reference.
- At the end of your shift, report on special attention guests, unusual incidents, or situations that need follow-up to ensure guest satisfaction and operational consistency.
- Room and Facility Verification:
- Verify the physical status of guest rooms and update Order Takers of any discrepancies.
- Report lost and found items immediately to your supervisor and coordinate with the Order Taker for proper handling.
- Turn-Down Service:
- Provide evening turn-down service according to the hotel’s set standards.
- Ensure guest rooms are refreshed, supplies replenished, and bathrooms cleaned if necessary.
- Guest Room Cleaning:
- Clean assigned guest rooms, including late check-outs and service requests.
- Tasks include making beds, dusting, vacuuming, replenishing supplies, and cleaning bathrooms according to luxury hotel standards.
- Verify that all room equipment is in working order and report any faults requiring repair.
- Inspection and Supervision Support:
- Inspect floors and public areas to ensure facilities and amenities meet cleanliness and maintenance standards.
- Verify the work of external contractors to ensure compliance with contracts and hotel expectations.
- Training and Development Contribution:
- Identify training needs within the department and support the preparation of training plans.
- Assist in implementing training activities with the approval of the Executive Housekeeper.
- Resource Management:
- Monitor and maintain availability of cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Control usage of amenities and supplies to align with budgetary goals.
- Ensure proper use of housekeeping tools and equipment.
- Operational Procedures:
- Familiarize yourself with and monitor procedures related to Lost and Found, Key Control, Security, Health and Safety, and emergency protocols.
- Special Projects and Administrative Duties:
- Participate in housekeeping projects such as general cleaning schedules and record-keeping.
- Attend departmental meetings, write reports, and maintain daily logs as required.
