Position 1: Associate Director, Cancer Center – Aga Khan University

Role Overview

The Associate Director, Cancer Center will play a critical leadership role at Aga Khan University, spearheading the growth and development of the institution’s cancer care, research, and education agenda. This position is central to strengthening AKU’s capacity to address one of the most pressing health challenges of our time—cancer—and to advance the University’s mission of improving health outcomes through research-driven clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide vision and direction in shaping the Cancer Center’s short- and long-term strategy, ensuring alignment with AKU’s institutional mission and global best practices in oncology.
  • Research Advancement: Drive cutting-edge research programs that address cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship, with a particular focus on issues relevant to Kenya and the East African region.
  • Clinical Excellence: Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of world-class cancer care services, incorporating advanced diagnostics, treatments, and multidisciplinary approaches.
  • Capacity Building: Strengthen the training and professional development of clinicians, researchers, and healthcare staff in oncology-related fields, ensuring the growth of a skilled and knowledgeable workforce.
