Role Purpose

The Data Quality Lead will take ownership of assessing, monitoring, and improving data quality standards and processes across the organization. The role is central to ensuring that Jubilee Insurance’s data assets remain accurate, complete, and reliable, enabling informed decision-making, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

The position holder will not only address immediate data quality challenges but will also build long-term frameworks and processes that foster a strong culture of data stewardship and accountability within the business.


Key Responsibilities

The Data Quality Lead’s responsibilities span across operational excellence, corporate governance, and organizational culture. The role is both technical and strategic, requiring a balance between hands-on execution and stakeholder collaboration.

Operational Responsibilities

  1. Data Quality Assessment
    • Conduct regular audits of data quality across multiple systems and data sources.
    • Identify inconsistencies, errors, and gaps, ensuring that these are addressed promptly.
  2. Data Profiling
    • Analyze datasets to uncover patterns, anomalies, and relationships.
    • Highlight potential issues and recommend improvements to enhance data integrity.
  3. Root Cause Analysis
    • Investigate data quality issues to determine their underlying causes.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to implement corrective and preventive measures.
  4. Data Cleansing
    • Develop and apply systematic data cleansing procedures.
    • Ensure records are accurate, complete, and fit for business use.
  5. Quality Metrics Monitoring
    • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics.
    • Provide regular reports on trends, progress, and compliance with standards.
  6. Master Data Management (MDM)
    • Drive the implementation of MDM frameworks across business units.
    • Ensure consistency in master data while developing validation and remediation processes.
  7. Documentation and Reporting
    • Document data quality rules, processes, and remediation measures.
    • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  8. Process Improvement
    • Continuously seek opportunities to improve data quality processes and tools.
    • Lead cross-functional initiatives to embed best practices across the organization.
  9. Training and Awareness
    • Conduct training sessions for employees on data quality tools and practices.
    • Foster a culture of ownership and accountability for data quality within teams.

Corporate Governance Responsibilities

  1. Ensure strict adherence to Kenyan laws, regulations, and internal company policies.
  2. Drive compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements across all data-related processes.
  3. Establish mitigation strategies to address emerging business risks.

People & Culture Responsibilities

  1. Promote ethical practices and corporate citizenship, maintaining a supportive and positive work environment.
  2. Collaborate with internal teams to design initiatives that nurture inclusivity and employee engagement.
  3. Support personalized development plans for employees, aligning individual growth with organizational objectives.

Key Deliverables

The success of the Data Quality Lead will be measured through tangible outputs, including:

  1. Comprehensive data quality assessments and audit reports.
  2. Effective data quality improvement plans and remediation strategies.
  3. Clear documentation of data quality rules and frameworks.
  4. Regular KPI and quality metric monitoring reports for management review.

Key Competencies

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Power BI.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex datasets and detect trends, patterns, and anomalies.
  • Problem-Solving: Skill in identifying root causes of data issues and designing actionable solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulousness in ensuring accuracy and consistency of data.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to present findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CDMP, CDGP, or CIGO) will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in data quality or related roles, preferably within multi-cloud environments (Azure, Oracle OCI).
  • Hands-on experience with data governance tools such as Microsoft Purview, Compliance Manager, Profisee, Informatica MDM, or SAP MDG.
  • Strong command of SQL and Python for data mining and analytics.
