About the Role – Forensics Analyst Intern
The Forensics Analyst Intern will work within M-KOPA’s Fraud Forensics department to support ongoing investigations and assist with identifying and documenting fraudulent activities targeting M-KOPA devices and systems.
This role is designed to provide a learning and development opportunity for students or recent graduates who are interested in cybersecurity, digital forensics, and fraud detection. Working under close supervision from senior forensic analysts, the intern will gain exposure to the company’s fraud investigation protocols, technical analysis methods, and cross-functional collaboration processes.
The position is on-site in Kenya, where you will collaborate with colleagues across multiple teams and departments. You will report directly to the Lead Fraud Forensics Analyst and work closely with other members of the fraud team to enhance the company’s fraud-prevention capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
As a Forensics Analyst Intern, your responsibilities will focus on supporting the operational and investigative work of the Fraud Forensics team. Key duties include:
- Assisting in Digital Forensic Investigations
- Participate in forensic examinations of compromised devices under the guidance of senior analysts.
- Apply basic forensic techniques for evidence collection, extraction, and preservation.
- Document findings in line with established forensic procedures and best practices.
- Evidence Documentation and Reporting
- Support the preparation of preliminary forensic reports.
- Assist in maintaining accurate technical documentation of evidence.
- Contribute to reports for team leads and management on forensic activities and findings.
- Fraud Prevention and Analysis
- Learn to detect and analyze potential fraudulent activity across M-KOPA devices.

- Compile data and assist in generating reports for fraud case monitoring.
Expertise and Skills Required
This internship is designed for individuals at the beginning of their career in digital forensics, cybersecurity, or fraud prevention. The role emphasizes learning and development, but a foundation in technical and analytical skills will be important.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Digital Forensics, Cybersecurity, or related fields.
- Basic knowledge of computer systems, operating systems, and networking concepts.
- Familiarity with at least one programming or scripting language (Python preferred).
- Strong understanding of SQL and exposure to analytical platforms like Looker and documentation tools such as Notion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Interest in data analysis and pattern recognition.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
