Job Description
The Mortician will be responsible for handling all activities within the mortuary to ensure that services are provided with dignity, professionalism, and adherence to established health and safety standards. This role involves the reception, preservation, preparation, and release of bodies, as well as the maintenance of the mortuary environment, equipment, and records. The Mortician will also provide support to bereaved families by preparing bodies for burial and facilitating smooth mortuary operations in line with county government procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensuring that all mortuary equipment, refrigeration systems, and other machinery are well-maintained and functioning properly.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records while safeguarding all mortuary documentation.
- Receiving, preparing, preserving, and dispatching bodies to family members and relevant authorities in a professional and timely manner.
- Preparing bodies for burial by performing cleaning, embalming, and other preservation procedures.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation across all mortuary facilities in the hospital.
- Handling bodies with dignity while observing professional and cultural sensitivities associated with mortuary services.
- Supporting health facilities in implementing mortuary regulations and ensuring compliance with public health requirements.
- Coordinating with medical and administrative staff on post-mortem arrangements where necessary.

Requirements for Appointment
- A certificate in Mortuary Science from a recognized institution.
