Job Overview

The IT Assistant will be part of the Technology Department and will report directly to the Head of IT. The individual will play a central role in ensuring the smooth functioning of IT systems, assisting users, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting infrastructure maintenance. This position also involves working on projects that contribute to the growth and sustainability of the firm’s IT capabilities.

The IT Assistant will be expected to provide comprehensive technical support, perform network monitoring, deploy and maintain security services, and contribute to the design and implementation of new IT solutions. Furthermore, the role requires collaboration with multiple teams, including project management, service desk, and engineering teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

    • Diagnose and resolve issues related to computer hardware, software, and connectivity.

    • Monitor and maintain the firm’s network infrastructure to ensure continuous and efficient performance.

    • Conduct regular checks and prepare reports for the Head of IT based on company policies.
  3. System Maintenance and Projects
    • Undertake assigned projects such as system upgrades, maintenance tasks, and programming.
    • Ensure that project deliverables are completed on time and in compliance with IT standards.
    • Assist in implementing new solutions that improve system resilience.
  4. Telephony System Configuration
    • Manage the company’s telephony system, including onboarding new users and deactivating accounts of departing staff.
    • Ensure proper maintenance of the telephony infrastructure.
  5. Network Services and Device Management
    • Design, configure, and maintain wired and wireless networks for both existing and new devices.
    • Perform L2 switching and L3 routing to ensure optimal connectivity and efficiency.
  6. IT Security and Compliance
    • Deploy and administer security services across IT systems and infrastructure.
    • Ensure 100% compliance with the organization’s IT security policy standards.
    • Regularly review and improve security protocols to safeguard information.
  7. Reporting and Collaboration
    • Gather, prioritize, and report network operational data to management.
    • Collaborate with project management teams, third-line engineers, and service desk staff to ensure seamless IT operations.
    • Provide status updates on ongoing projects and technical issues.
  8. Other Duties
    • Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by the company in line with organizational needs.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Education: A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Experience: 0–2 years of experience in a highly active IT support environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proven experience as an IT Assistant, IT Consultant, or in a similar IT support role.
  • Certifications: Networking and ITIL certifications are an added advantage.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of computer hardware and software troubleshooting.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
