Jubilee Life Insurance Limited, a leading composite insurer in East Africa, is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and skilled professional for the position of Data Quality Lead. The successful candidate will join the Data Governance function, reporting to the Head of Data Governance, and will be based at the Head Office in Nairobi.

Role Purpose
The role holder will be responsible for assessing, monitoring, and improving data quality standards and processes to support informed decision-making, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance operational efficiency. The individual will also ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data assets across the organization.

Operational Responsibilities
- Data Quality Assessment
Conduct regular audits and assessments of data quality across various systems and sources. This includes identifying inconsistencies, errors, and gaps in data integrity that may affect business outcomes. - Data Profiling
Analyse datasets to understand data patterns, anomalies, and relationships. The aim is to identify potential issues, prioritize areas for improvement, and ensure alignment with business requirements. - Root Cause Analysis
Investigate data quality issues by examining their underlying causes. The position requires collaboration with relevant stakeholders to design and implement corrective measures and preventive strategies. - Data Cleansing
Develop and implement data cleansing procedures and workflows. These processes should address quality issues effectively, ensuring that records remain accurate, complete, and reliable for business use. - Quality Metrics Monitoring
Define, establish, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics. This involves tracking trends, evaluating compliance with data quality standards, and preparing reports to guide business decisions. - Master Data Management (MDM)
Drive the implementation of MDM initiatives to ensure consistency and reliability of master data across all business units. This will involve developing processes for data entry, validation, and remediation within the MDM framework. - Documentation and Reporting
Maintain comprehensive documentation on data quality rules, processes, and remediation efforts. Prepare regular reports and presentations to communicate findings, trends, and recommendations to stakeholders. - Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to enhance data quality processes, tools, and controls. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement industry best practices and embed a culture of continuous improvement. - Training and Awareness
Deliver training sessions and provide guidance to end-users on best practices in data quality management. This responsibility is aimed at fostering accountability and stewardship within the organization.
Corporate Governance Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to Kenyan laws and regulations, as well as the organization’s internal policies and procedures.
- Guarantee compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements while establishing mitigation measures for emerging business risks.
People and Culture Responsibilities
- Promote a corporate culture that emphasizes ethical practices, accountability, and good corporate citizenship, while maintaining a conducive and inclusive work environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement initiatives that encourage positivity and inclusivity within the workplace.

Key Deliverables
The Data Quality Lead will be evaluated against clear deliverables that ensure alignment with organizational goals. These include:
- Conducting regular data quality assessments and preparing detailed audit reports.
- Designing and executing data quality improvement plans, alongside remediation strategies.
- Developing and maintaining documentation of data quality rules and processes.
- Preparing and submitting monitoring reports on key performance indicators and quality metrics.

- Technical expertise in SQL, Python, and Power BI.
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to interpret complex datasets, identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.

- High attention to detail in ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Effective communication skills to clearly present findings, recommendations, and progress updates to stakeholders.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams to solve challenges and drive improvements.
Relevant Qualifications and Experience
The role requires a combination of academic and professional credentials, together with relevant hands-on experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Certification in fields such as CDMP, CDGP, or CIGO will be considered an added advantage.
- At least three years of experience in data quality or related roles, ideally within multi-cloud environments such as Azure or Oracle OCI.
- Practical experience with data governance tools such as Microsoft Purview, Compliance Manager, Profisee, Informatica MDM, and SAP MDG.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python for data mining and analysis.
