Job Description: Full Time Trainer German Language

The Full Time Trainer German Language will play a central role in developing, preparing, and delivering lessons to students in line with the approved curriculum. The trainer is expected to provide comprehensive instruction in the German language while ensuring learners acquire proficiency and intercultural competence.

This position involves a wide range of responsibilities, including lesson planning, developing instructional materials, assessing student performance, participating in curriculum development, and contributing to departmental functions. The role requires an individual with expertise in the German language and an ability to create engaging and effective learning experiences.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Full Time Trainer German Language will be responsible for the following:

  1. Lesson Planning and Delivery
    • Plan, prepare, and teach units assigned according to the approved course outline and curriculum.
    • Ensure that lesson delivery is aligned with the standards and expectations of Equip Africa Institute and meets the learning needs of students.
    • Integrate diverse teaching methods and learning activities to enhance comprehension and retention among students.
  2. Development of Learning Materials
    • Design and develop relevant learning materials tailored to the curriculum.
    • Prepare professional records, submit them in a timely manner, and maintain organized records that track student attendance, progress, and achievements.
    • Ensure materials are accessible, clear, and suitable for learners at varying levels of language proficiency.
  3. Student-Centered Learning and Support
    • Plan, develop, and deliver individualized learning plans for students where needed.
    • Provide academic support and mentorship to students to foster a positive learning environment.
    • Ensure lessons promote intercultural understanding and effective communication.
  4. Student Assessment and Monitoring
    • Assess student work regularly to monitor progress and provide feedback.
    • Evaluate students through continuous assessment tests (C.A.Ts), end-of-term assessments, and practical tasks.
    • Record and upload student marks in the Management Information System (MIS) within the required timelines.
  5. Practical Instruction and Supervision
    • Conduct practical sessions and guide students in language application tasks.
    • Supervise students during assessments, ensuring academic integrity and a fair evaluation process.
    • Maintain student portfolios of evidence as proof of learning progression and competencies achieved.
  6. Curriculum Development and Review
    • Actively participate in the review and development of the curriculum to ensure its relevance and alignment with educational standards.
    • Adapt delivery patterns to address evolving student needs and feedback.
    • Contribute to initiatives that strengthen the quality and relevance of the curriculum.
  7. Examinations and Evaluation
    • Examine and grade student assessments fairly and promptly.
    • Provide constructive feedback to students to facilitate improvement and encourage academic excellence.
    • Ensure that assessment processes are conducted in accordance with institutional guidelines.
  8. Departmental and Institutional Engagement
    • Attend and actively contribute to departmental meetings.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve teaching methodologies.
    • Participate in institutional activities that promote academic excellence and student success.
  9. Other Responsibilities
    • Perform any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor in line with the role.
    • Uphold the values of Equip Africa Institute and contribute positively to its vision and mission.

Requirements

Applicants are expected to meet the following requirements:

  • Possession of a valid Goethe Institute certification, with a minimum proficiency level of B2 in the German language.
  • At least one year of experience in teaching the German language.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively explain concepts and interact with students.
  • Intercultural competence and the ability to work with learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in instructional design and the ability to develop engaging learning content.
