Position 1: Risk and Compliance Officer
Location: Nairobi
Salary Range: Kes. 1,800,000 – Kes. 2,100,000 per annum

Job Purpose
The Risk and Compliance Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing an effective risk management framework within Farm Africa’s Kenya operations. This role ensures the organization complies with internal policies, donor requirements, and national legislation while proactively identifying, monitoring, and mitigating risks that may hinder the achievement of organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk Management Framework Development
- Design and maintain a comprehensive risk management system tailored to Farm Africa’s operational context in Kenya.
- Identify potential threats across financial, operational, legal, reputational, and programmatic areas.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies that are practical, measurable, and adaptable to evolving circumstances.
- Compliance Oversight
- Ensure that all activities comply with donor guidelines, organizational policies, and national laws.
- Establish compliance monitoring tools to track adherence to procedures, reporting requirements, and statutory obligations.
- Conduct compliance audits, reporting findings, and recommending corrective measures.
- Capacity Building and Training
- Provide training to staff on compliance-related matters, ensuring they understand and uphold organizational standards.
- Foster a culture of integrity and accountability across teams.
- Develop user-friendly compliance manuals and reference guides.
- Reporting and Advisory
- Regularly report to management and the board on the organization’s risk profile and compliance status.
- Provide actionable recommendations for strengthening control systems and governance structures.
- Serve as an advisor to program managers and directors on emerging risks and legal obligations.
- Incident and Crisis Management
- Lead the investigation of compliance breaches, fraud allegations, or significant risk events.
- Document findings and guide management through appropriate responses and corrective actions.
- Contribute to crisis preparedness planning and response mechanisms.

Position 2: Grants Accountant

Salary Range: Kes. 1,680,000 – Kes. 2,160,000 per annum

Job Purpose
The Grants Accountant provides financial oversight and accountability for donor-funded projects. This position ensures that grants are managed in line with donor agreements, Farm Africa’s internal policies, and regulatory requirements. The role is essential in maintaining transparency, financial integrity, and donor confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Grant Financial Management
- Manage all financial aspects of assigned donor-funded projects.
- Prepare detailed budgets aligned with donor requirements and organizational priorities.
- Track grant expenditures against approved budgets, ensuring costs are allowable and properly coded.
- Reporting
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for donors and internal stakeholders.
- Consolidate data from program teams and field offices into comprehensive financial statements.
- Provide variance analyses, highlighting potential issues and recommending corrective actions.
- Compliance and Audit
- Ensure all grant-related expenditures comply with donor regulations and Farm Africa’s policies.
- Support both internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to queries, and implementing recommendations.
- Maintain up-to-date records that demonstrate accountability and transparency.
- Capacity Support to Program Teams
- Work closely with program staff to strengthen their understanding of financial management principles.
- Provide guidance on budget utilization, procurement processes, and reporting standards.
- Develop financial training sessions for non-finance staff.
- Financial Systems and Controls
- Use accounting systems to maintain accurate records of grant transactions.
- Monitor cash flows to ensure sufficient liquidity for project implementation.
- Propose improvements to financial systems to enhance efficiency and accountability.

Position 3: Driver
Location: Nanyuki
Salary Range: Kes. 432,000 – Kes. 554,400 per annum

Job Purpose
The Driver provides safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for Farm Africa staff, visitors, and materials. This role is essential in supporting the implementation of field projects, enabling mobility, and ensuring that operations run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving and Transportation
- Transport staff and authorized passengers to project sites, meetings, and other official destinations.
- Deliver materials, documents, and other items as required.
- Ensure journeys are conducted safely, on time, and in compliance with road regulations.
- Vehicle Maintenance
- Perform daily checks on vehicles, including fuel, oil, tires, brakes, and lights.
- Ensure vehicles are kept clean, both inside and outside.
- Report mechanical issues promptly and liaise with the fleet manager for timely servicing and repairs.
- Safety and Security
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws and organizational driving policies.
- Ensure passengers fasten seat belts and follow safety procedures.
- Remain alert to security risks on roads, particularly in field locations, and take necessary precautions.
- Documentation and Record Keeping
- Maintain an accurate logbook for each journey, recording mileage, fuel consumption, and service intervals.
- Ensure vehicle documents such as insurance and road licenses are always up to date.
- Submit reports on fuel usage and vehicle performance as requested.
- Support to Field Operations
- Assist project teams with loading and unloading equipment and materials.
- Provide logistical support during fieldwork, workshops, or training sessions.
- Act as a liaison point when transporting visitors, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported.
