ADRA Kenya seeks the services of a qualified, licensed, and experienced hydrogeologist to conduct a hydrogeological survey in Turkana West Sub-County. The consultancy aims to assess groundwater potential in three proposed borehole sites, ensuring accurate identification of viable water sources for community use.

Job Description
The consultant will conduct hydrogeological investigations to evaluate subsurface hydrologic and geologic parameters. The findings will guide the drilling and sustainable management of boreholes in the identified project areas. The assignment focuses on determining groundwater availability, aquifer characteristics, and optimal borehole locations to ensure the long-term success of water development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed hydrogeological surveys at three designated sites in Turkana West Sub-County.
  • Investigate subsurface hydrologic and geologic parameters to assess the area’s groundwater potential.
  • Identify and recommend optimal borehole sites based on technical data and community water needs.
  • Predict the expected yields of the proposed boreholes and assess the sustainability of groundwater extraction.
  • Compile and analyze hydrogeological data collected during fieldwork to prepare a comprehensive technical report.
  • Ensure all hydrogeological studies comply with national standards and regulations set by the Water Resources Authority (WRA).
  • Facilitate the acquisition of necessary permits and approvals from relevant authorities.
  • Present findings and recommendations to ADRA Kenya’s technical team and local stakeholders.
  • Submit a final detailed report that includes borehole siting maps, aquifer profiles, and yield projections.

The consultant will be expected to work closely with ADRA Kenya’s project team and local partners to ensure that the survey meets both technical and community requirements. The deliverables will form the basis for the next phase of borehole development and water resource management in the target communities.
