by Recal

Mercy Corps, a globally recognized humanitarian and development organization, operates in more than 40 countries around the world. Its mission is built upon the belief that a better world is possible—one where communities overcome adversity, adapt to change, and create sustainable progress. Through collaborative partnerships and innovative programming, Mercy Corps works with vulnerable populations to provide life-changing solutions that promote resilience, economic growth, and social inclusion.

Within its global portfolio, Mercy Corps implements diverse programs that focus on key sectors such as agriculture, financial inclusion, governance, and energy access. One of its notable initiatives is Energy 4 Impact (E4I), a program dedicated to enhancing access to clean energy solutions in Africa and Asia. By supporting energy entrepreneurs and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), E4I enables businesses and communities to harness renewable energy technologies to improve livelihoods and stimulate local economies.

As part of its growing efforts in the energy access space, Mercy Corps is seeking to recruit a Regional Advisor, Energy Enterprise Investment, to join its Nairobi-based team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing and implementing several flagship energy programs, including the Crowd Power 3 (CP3) initiative and other complementary projects such as Powering Renewable Energy Opportunities (PREO), GET.Invest Financial Readiness Support (FRS), Energy Catalyst Acceleration Program (ECAP), and the Kenya Cold Chain Accelerator (KCCA).

This position presents an exceptional opportunity for a professional with a strong background in energy access financing, program management, and private sector engagement to contribute to advancing renewable energy solutions across Africa and Asia.

About the Program

Energy 4 Impact (E4I) operates with a mission to reduce poverty by accelerating access to clean energy. The program helps communities and enterprises not only gain access to renewable energy but also utilize it productively to drive economic growth. E4I focuses on enabling energy access businesses—particularly SMEs and microenterprises—to thrive by offering advisory services on financial structuring, technical engineering, and market development.

By partnering with the private sector and development financiers, E4I promotes innovative approaches to expanding clean energy markets, scaling business models, and testing new technologies that can serve remote and underserved populations. Its projects span several thematic areas, including off-grid energy solutions, productive use of energy (PUE), and climate-smart enterprise development.

The Regional Advisor, Energy Enterprise Investment will provide cross-cutting support across multiple programs, serving as a strategic link between Mercy Corps, its energy access clients, and financial institutions.
