Jubilee Health Insurance Limited is seeking to recruit a passionate and detail-oriented Underwriter, Client Support to join its dynamic underwriting team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in assessing medical insurance risks, ensuring compliance with underwriting standards, and supporting business growth through accurate and timely underwriting decisions.
Role Purpose
To underwrite and assess medical insurance risks within the company’s defined underwriting framework to ensure portfolio profitability, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The role involves evaluating medical risks, determining appropriate terms and premiums, maintaining data accuracy, and supporting business development through technically sound underwriting decisions for both retail and corporate medical business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Medical Risk Assessment
- Evaluate new and renewal medical insurance applications to determine risk acceptability, premium rating, and benefit structures in line with underwriting guidelines and reinsurance arrangements.
- Analyse medical reports, claim histories, lifestyle factors, and demographic data to assess individual and group health risks.
- Recommend appropriate loadings, exclusions, or coverage restrictions where necessary.
- Ensure that all accepted risks comply with the company’s underwriting policies, reinsurance treaty limits, and profitability objectives.
2. Policy Underwriting & Documentation
- Prepare and issue quotations, policy schedules, renewal terms, and endorsements accurately and within set timelines.
- Review proposal forms and related documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance before policy issuance.
- Maintain accurate underwriting records and ensure that documentation is properly filed and retrievable for audit and reference purposes.
- Support the renewal process by ensuring timely policy updates, endorsements, and renewals for both corporate and individual clients.
3. Client Support & Relationship Management
- Provide responsive, professional, and efficient service to clients, intermediaries, and internal stakeholders on underwriting and policy-related queries.
- Liaise with the sales and customer service teams to provide technical support in developing proposals, quotations, and policy clarifications.
- Support the business development team in securing and retaining profitable accounts through sound underwriting input.
- Handle client correspondence professionally and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
4. Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensure adherence to company underwriting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements as stipulated by the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) and other relevant bodies.
- Participate in continuous review and improvement of underwriting processes to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Contribute to the maintenance of ISO quality standards within the underwriting department.
5. Reporting and Data Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date underwriting data for reporting, analysis, and decision-making.
- Support the preparation of periodic reports on underwriting performance, risk trends, and portfolio profitability.
- Collaborate with the finance and claims departments to reconcile premiums, claims, and reinsurance records where necessary.
