748 Air Services Hiring Head of Quality AMO

Overview

The Head of Quality AMO ensures that the AMO’s maintenance activities comply with all applicable aviation regulations, standards, and internal procedures. They are responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensuring the organization meets the requirements for continued approval by the aviation authority.

Key Accountabilities:

Head of Quality AMO Responsibilities: –

  • To ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with the respective AMO manuals and to ensure compliance with the Civil Aviation Regulations.
  • To establish a quality monitoring programme to cover all activities including those concerned with continuing airworthi
  • Monitoring the quality of all contracted support services.
  • Communicate and coordinate with operational managers in the management of operational risks.
  • Monitoring compliance with Civil Aviation Regulations.
  • To advise the Accountable Manager of all audit activities and reports.
  • To ensure compliance with approved maintenance schedules, review these schedules and obtain their approval from KCAA.
  • To ensure that all inspection authorizations are valid and all Company Approvals are kept up to date.
  • To maintain an up-to-date signature roster of all certifying personnel.
  • Liaise with Civil Aviation Authorities, Original Equipment Manufacturers and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure day-to-day administration of Quality Management System across the AMO and stakeholders on behalf of the Accountable Manager.
  • Provide an independent assessment and overview of the Quality management of the maintenance activities and where issues are not being addressed adequately; advise or raise with the Accountable Manager and other senior management.
  • Effective management of the quality assurance system and assuring compliance with the company quality policy and other company standards and procedures.
  • Implementing quality audits and inspections under the quality assurance program system, for which compliance with regulations and standards shall be reviewed at regular intervals.
  • Ensure appropriate corrective or preventive actions that address relevant compliance and/or conformity issues have been implemented and are being monitored for effectiveness.
  • Developing quality training tools and promoting awareness amongst all staff new and existing.
  • Collecting data which serves to develop quality and safety statistics, thus identifying trends, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Through liaison with the safety department, address identified trends & hazards through risk management to maintain them as low as reasonably practicable levels.
  • Review of company manuals to ensure compliance with current civil aviation regulations, aircraft & equipment manufacturers’ instructions, company policies, and ground procedures.
  • Control and coordinate quality training for internal quality Auditors to ensure only qualified quality audit personnel are utilized.
  • Provide overall awareness of the quality system to all Seven Four Eight Air Services (K) Limited through company indoctrination of new staff and recurrent informative sessions for other staff.
  • To disseminate information to all personnel (management and non-management personnel) as appropriate to ensure an organizational awareness of relevant quality assurance issues and results.
  • Extending the company quality system to contracted suppliers and providers via assessments, audits, or inspections in order to ensure sub-contracted services are performed to expectations and meet contractual agreements.
  • Liaising with Civil Aviation Authorities where the company performs operations and negotiating in matters regarding the maintenance of granted approvals by the Authorities.
  • Liaising with external auditors in matters regarding quality audits and responding to the external audits’ findings in coordination with the respective Heads of departments and managers.
  • Controlling Personnel authorizations for certifying staff in respect to their duties, qualifications & training requirements for licensed engineers i.e. the issuance, the Verification & the Control.
  • Together with top management, perform periodic review of the Quality System with the intention to measure achieved objectives and areas requiring more attention.
  • Analysis of internal audit results and the state of completion of the relative corrective actions.
  • Ensure annual C of A renewals are done within the timelines and subsequently updated on the system.
  • Develop and maintain Quality Management systems manuals and documentation, and ensure its effective implementation.
  • Guarantee that all new regulatory requirements and subsequent amendments are properly managed.
  • Analysis of the returns coming from the Authority oversight activity and responding to KCAA findings upon review of AMO entities.
  • Coordinate and support the AMO certifications renewal and ensure retention of the same.
  • Responding to external audit findings e.g. from clients or authorized interested parties.

In addition to quality functions, the Head of Quality shall act as a safety officer with the following roles;

  • Shall be accountable to the Head of Safety, to assist with the performance, development, co-ordination and maintenance of the SMS.
  • Shall be responsible for accomplishing many of the daily tasks and functions of the SMS.
  • Shall assist all operating departments with safety expertise to assist them in achieving their safety targets.
  • Shall assist the Head of Safety in the coordination of SMS and ERP functions throughout the organization.
  • Shall be responsible for ensuring accurate documentation of the ERP simulation exercises are recorded using the appropriate forms and checklists.
  • In the event the ERP is activated, shall be required to fulfil the role of CMC Log Keeper.
  • Shall carry out other functions as may be directed by the Head of Safety.
  • You are expected to support the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) within your department and the company.
  • Perform other responsibilities as delegated by the Head of QSSEL.

Education and Experience

Education Requireda)     Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering.b)     KCSE Mean score of C+ with minimum C+ in Mathematics, Physics and English.c)      Proficiency in office software and computer applicationsd)     Holds an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licence Category A, C or Bothe)     Must have undergone a QMS training from an approved ATO 
Experience Requireda)    A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a quality departmentb)   Experience in Auditingc)    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.d)   Analytical skills and Interpersonal skillse)    Knowledge and Training in SMS is an added advantage
