The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a state corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013 as the national body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.
KEMRI has grown from its humble beginning over 40 years ago to become a regional leader in human health research.
The Institute currently ranks as one of the leading Centres of excellence in health research both in Africa as well as globally..
Research Scientist
Key Responsibilities:
- Make appointments with study participants, administer informed consent and conduct research interviews
- Transcribe and translate (if necessary) audio files and submit typed transcripts including interview summary notes to the Social Scientist in a timely manner
- Review transcripts for any spelling, grammar or formatting errors, as well as other inconsistencies
- Debrief with social science team on a regular basis
- Adhere to confidentiality guidelines and respect sensitive information
- Ensure that data quality assurance procedures are strictly adhered to
- Participate in planning meetings and scheduled conference calls with Social Scientist and study partners
- Perform any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time
