Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is a State Corporation established under Legal Notice No. 4 of 2019 as a Level 6 Referral Hospital. Director, Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

Job Reference Number: DICT/VERT3/2025

The Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will provide leadership in the development and implementation of technology strategies that support the hospital’s vision of delivering efficient, innovative, and data-driven healthcare. The incumbent will oversee all ICT operations, ensuring systems reliability, cybersecurity, and digital transformation within KUTRRH.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the hospital’s ICT strategy, policies, and standards in alignment with its strategic objectives.
  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of ICT infrastructure projects to support hospital operations, research, and training.
  • Manage the implementation and maintenance of hospital information systems including the Electronic Health Records (EHR), Hospital Management Information System (HMIS), and other digital platforms.
  • Ensure the security, integrity, and confidentiality of hospital data and ICT systems through robust cybersecurity measures and data protection policies.
  • Oversee network administration, system maintenance, and software support to ensure seamless operation of ICT systems.
  • Provide technical leadership in digital transformation initiatives including telemedicine, AI-driven diagnostics, and data analytics.
  • Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans to safeguard ICT operations.
  • Collaborate with hospital departments to identify ICT needs and provide innovative solutions that enhance clinical, administrative, and research functions.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service-level agreements for ICT products and services.
  • Implement training and capacity-building programs for ICT staff and system users to enhance efficiency and adoption of new technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with national ICT regulations, data privacy laws, and hospital ICT governance standards.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend appropriate adoption to improve service delivery and operational performance.
  • Lead ICT budgeting, procurement planning, and resource allocation to optimize technology investments.
  • Monitor system performance, generate analytical reports, and provide strategic insights to hospital management for informed decision-making.
  • Promote innovation and technology-driven processes to position KUTRRH as a leader in digital healthcare solutions.

This role demands a strategic thinker capable of driving digital transformation within a complex healthcare environment. The Director, ICT, will play a key role in ensuring that the hospital’s technology infrastructure aligns with its goals of operational efficiency and data-driven healthcare excellence.
