Job Description
The Full-Time Trainer in Community Health will be responsible for teaching, research, and community engagement within the School of Public Health. The position requires an individual who is experienced in public health education and committed to developing professionals equipped to address community health challenges. The trainer will also play an active role in mentoring students, developing curricula, and fostering partnerships that enhance the quality of training offered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver lectures and practical sessions in Community Health and related courses across diploma and degree programs.
  • Prepare and update course outlines, lesson plans, and instructional materials to meet academic standards and the needs of learners.
  • Conduct assessments, examinations, and continuous evaluations in accordance with the university’s academic policies.
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, supporting their intellectual and professional growth.
  • Participate in curriculum review and development to ensure relevance to current public health issues and practices.
  • Engage in community outreach and extension programs that promote health awareness and sustainable community health solutions.
  • Initiate and participate in research projects that contribute to evidence-based community health interventions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the School of Public Health and other faculties to promote interdisciplinary learning and research.
  • Maintain accurate student records, prepare academic reports, and ensure timely submission of course results.
  • Represent the university in community health forums, workshops, and professional associations to enhance institutional visibility and collaboration.

Additional Duties

  • Support the coordination of field placements and community-based learning activities for students.
  • Supervise student research projects and practical attachments.
  • Contribute to staff development initiatives and continuous improvement of teaching methodologies.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department or Dean of the School of Public Health.
