The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is the focal point in the UN system for coordinating disaster risk reduction and ensuring the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030. The office works with partners, governments, and communities to reduce disaster risks and enhance resilience worldwide. UNDRR is seeking a highly motivated Intern – Public Information to join its Nairobi office. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in communication, media, and public information work within an international setting.
Job Description
The Public Information Intern will work under the supervision of the Communications and Public Information Officer. The intern will support the team in the following key areas:
- Content Creation: Assist in drafting, editing, and updating web stories, press releases, newsletters, and social media content highlighting UNDRR’s initiatives and impact.
- Media and Outreach: Support media monitoring, develop media lists, and assist in organizing press conferences and events to enhance public awareness of disaster risk reduction.
- Visual and Digital Communication: Contribute to the design of infographics, videos, and other digital content for social media and website dissemination.
- Event Support: Provide logistical and communication support for workshops, meetings, and campaigns.
- Research and Documentation: Assist in collecting and summarizing information on communication trends, best practices, and disaster risk reduction topics.
This role offers valuable exposure to global communications and disaster resilience work within the UN system.
