Job Description
The intern will support UNEP’s research, analysis, and communication initiatives on environmental management, conflict prevention, and peacebuilding in Somalia. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research on the linkages between climate change, environmental degradation, and peace and security dynamics.
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports, policy briefs, and background papers on climate-security risks and resilience strategies.
  • Supporting communication efforts, including drafting web stories, social media updates, and visual materials to highlight project outcomes.
  • Contributing to data collection, analysis, and knowledge-sharing on environmental peacebuilding initiatives.
  • Assisting in the organization of events, workshops, and consultations involving key stakeholders and partners.
  • Providing general administrative and coordination support to the Climate, Peace and Security team.

This internship provides valuable exposure to environmental peacebuilding work in post-conflict contexts and an opportunity to contribute to UNEP’s mission of promoting sustainable peace through environmental cooperation and resilience building.
