The Research Officer I will support icipe’s research activities by conducting technical and scientific work within assigned projects. The position will focus on implementing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and contributing to research outputs under the supervision of senior scientists.

Job Description
The incumbent will provide research support in laboratory and field experiments within icipe’s thematic areas, with an emphasis on the development of sustainable solutions to challenges in agriculture, animal health, and environmental management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the design and execution of experimental studies and surveys relevant to the assigned project.
  • Conducting laboratory work, including specimen handling, processing, and analysis using established scientific methods.
  • Collecting, managing, and analyzing data accurately, ensuring quality control and adherence to research protocols.
  • Supporting field trials, including logistics coordination, data collection, and liaison with local stakeholders.
  • Participating in the preparation of research reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Maintaining laboratory and field equipment, ensuring safety and operational standards are upheld.
  • Assisting in the training and mentorship of students, interns, and technical assistants involved in project activities.
  • Collaborating with other research teams to ensure integration and consistency of project activities within icipe’s overall strategy.
  • Contributing to project progress reports and providing inputs for donor communication and institutional documentation.
