The Senior Research Officer I will contribute to icipe’s scientific research portfolio by conducting applied research and development within the relevant project or program area. This role involves the design and execution of research experiments, data analysis, and contribution to knowledge dissemination within icipe’s multidisciplinary environment.
Job Description
Under the supervision of the relevant Project Leader or Principal Investigator, the Senior Research Officer I will participate in field and laboratory-based research activities, ensuring that outputs contribute effectively to icipe’s objectives and donor requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, implementing, and managing research experiments focused on insect science and its application in agriculture, animal health, or environmental conservation.
- Conducting field sampling, laboratory analysis, and data interpretation to generate high-quality research findings.
- Assisting in the development of project proposals and technical reports for donors, collaborators, and internal management.
- Participating in the publication of scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and contributing to presentations at scientific conferences.
- Supporting the training and supervision of technical staff, students, and interns engaged in project activities.
- Collaborating with local and international partners to strengthen project outcomes and ensure knowledge exchange.
- Assisting in the development of technologies, tools, or protocols that can be adopted by end-users such as farmers or policymakers.
- Maintaining accurate project documentation, ensuring compliance with research ethics and safety standards.
- Contributing to project monitoring and evaluation processes by preparing progress updates and supporting audits or donor reviews.
