To deliver on this promise, Artcaffé is recruiting for multiple positions across front-of-house and back-of-house departments. Successful candidates will be part of a dynamic, fast-paced, and inclusive team, helping to build the Kisumu branch from the ground up and ensuring consistent service excellence from opening day.

Waitstaff

Role Purpose:
Waitstaff are responsible for creating a positive guest experience through professional, friendly, and attentive service. They ensure that guests feel welcome, guide them through menu offerings, take orders accurately, and deliver food and beverages efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
• Welcome guests, manage seating arrangements, and present menus courteously.
• Take accurate orders and ensure timely service in collaboration with baristas and cooks.
• Serve food and beverages in accordance with Artcaffé standards and presentation guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming dining environment at all times.
• Monitor guest satisfaction and promptly address requests or complaints.
• Manage billing, process payments, and balance transactions accurately.
• Support opening, service, and closing routines, including table setup and reset.
• Uphold hygiene, food safety, and customer service standards.

Performance Indicators:
• Order accuracy and speed of service.
• Guest satisfaction and return rates.
• Cleanliness and organization of assigned sections.
• Adherence to Artcaffé service standards.


Baristas

Role Purpose:
Baristas are the face of the Artcaffé coffee experience. They prepare, present, and serve high-quality coffee, tea, and specialty beverages while maintaining a welcoming and professional atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare coffee and other beverages according to standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
• Operate espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene at the beverage station throughout the day.
• Manage stock levels for coffee beans, milk, syrups, and related supplies.
• Interact with guests, providing product knowledge and recommendations.
• Coordinate with waitstaff to ensure timely delivery of drinks to tables.
• Follow health, safety, and allergen control protocols strictly.

Performance Indicators:
• Beverage consistency, temperature, and presentation.
• Customer satisfaction and feedback.
• Efficiency during peak service hours.
• Cleanliness and equipment maintenance compliance.


Cooks

Role Purpose:
Cooks are responsible for preparing and presenting menu items to Artcaffé’s culinary standards. They ensure consistency, freshness, and quality across all food offerings.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and cook menu items according to standard recipes and specifications.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards at all times.
• Coordinate with service and barista teams to ensure timely delivery of orders.
• Conduct proper stock rotation (FIFO) and minimize food wastage.
• Maintain accurate records for temperature checks, prep lists, and cleaning schedules.
• Support new menu rollouts and special promotions.
• Participate in deep cleaning and closing procedures.

Performance Indicators:
• Consistency and quality of dishes.
• Compliance with food safety and hygiene protocols.
• Timeliness and accuracy in food preparation.
• Reduction in kitchen waste and re-fires.


Cashiers

Role Purpose:
Cashiers handle all payment transactions, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and friendly service at the point of sale. They are essential to maintaining smooth financial operations and excellent customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
• Process cash, card, and mobile payments accurately and efficiently.
• Manage the point-of-sale (POS) system, including billing and receipts.
• Balance tills, record sales, and prepare daily cash reports.
• Ensure pricing accuracy and apply promotions or discounts appropriately.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow company cash-handling policies.
• Greet guests professionally and respond to billing queries.
• Keep cashier counters clean and organized at all times.

Stewards

Role Purpose:
Stewards maintain the cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of the kitchen and service areas. They ensure that dishes, utensils, and equipment are cleaned, sanitized, and readily available for use.

Key Responsibilities:
• Operate dishwashing machines safely and efficiently.
• Clean, sanitize, and store kitchenware and utensils properly.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, and storage areas.
• Dispose of waste responsibly and adhere to recycling and safety procedures.
• Support cooks and service staff during high-volume operations.
• Assist in general kitchen cleaning schedules and sanitation checks.

Supervisors

Role Purpose:
Supervisors coordinate daily operations and ensure smooth communication between kitchen, barista, and service teams. They support the manager in enforcing standards, coaching staff, and maintaining operational excellence.

• Oversee front-of-house or back-of-house functions during shifts.
• Conduct briefings to communicate priorities, specials, and promotions.

Manager

Role Purpose:
The Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the Kisumu branch. This role oversees all departments, ensuring operational excellence, guest satisfaction, team development, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage daily branch operations across service, kitchen, and barista departments.
• Ensure consistent quality in food, beverages, and customer service.
• Lead recruitment, training, and staff development initiatives.
• Implement operational procedures and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Monitor sales performance, control costs, and maintain profitability targets.
• Conduct performance appraisals, set KPIs, and track progress.
• Handle guest feedback, resolve issues, and maintain strong community relations.
• Coordinate with headquarters for marketing, reporting, and audits.
• Ensure readiness for inspections and operational reviews.
