by OYK

The Teaching Assistant Program in France 2026–2027 is now open for applications, offering Kenyan students a unique opportunity to live and work in France for seven months while teaching English in public schools. This prestigious initiative, part of the global Language Assistant Programme, promotes cultural exchange and linguistic development between France and participating countries. Each year, approximately 170 positions are allocated to Kenyan applicants, giving them the chance to immerse themselves in French culture, gain international teaching experience, and enhance their language and professional skills.

About the Program

The Language Assistant Programme places English-speaking assistants in public schools across metropolitan France and the French Overseas Departments. The role of the assistant is to support French teachers in delivering English lessons, encourage conversational fluency among students, and share insights about Kenyan culture and the English-speaking world. Assistants work with learners of various ages, from primary to secondary levels, helping to foster intercultural understanding and linguistic diversity in classrooms.

Participants gain hands-on experience in an international educational setting, develop teaching and communication skills, and strengthen their proficiency in the French language. Beyond the classroom, assistants have the opportunity to explore France’s rich cultural heritage, participate in community events, and build networks that open future academic and professional pathways.
