22 Vacancies Open At Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) – Casual Workers

by OYK

The Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) stands as one of the oldest and most respected media training institutions in East and Central Africa. Established in 1961 as the Voice of Kenya Training School, it was created to address the growing demand for skilled electronic engineering professionals and technicians for the then Kenya Broadcasting Service (KBS). The institution evolved through several phases, mirroring the growth of Kenya’s broadcasting landscape—from KBS to the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) in 1962, and later the Voice of Kenya (VOK) after nationalization in 1964.

The nationalization of the broadcaster resulted in the departure of many expatriate professionals, creating an immediate need for well-trained local manpower. In response, the newly branded Voice of Kenya secured a grant in 1965 to expand its training capacity, laying the foundation for what would become the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication. Over the decades, KIMC has grown into a premier institution for training media practitioners, broadcast engineers, communication specialists, and technical personnel who serve in diverse sectors of Kenya’s media and communication industry.

KIMC continues to play a vital role in shaping the country’s media ecosystem through high-quality instruction, practical training, and capacity building. In line with its mandate and ongoing institutional development, KIMC is seeking to recruit dedicated, hardworking, and service-oriented individuals to support administrative, technical, and operational functions across its campuses.
