Internship Opportunities Open At Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) – 2026

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) plays a central role in Kenya’s criminal justice system. Guided by its mission to provide impartial, innovative, efficient, and effective prosecution services, the Office upholds high standards in public service delivery. In line with Section 13(2) of the ODPP Act No. 2 of 2013, the Office exercises the mandate to appoint, control, and supervise its staff to fulfil its objectives.

To support professional growth, skills development, and capacity building among young Kenyans, the ODPP has announced new openings for Pupillage and Internship for a period of six months. These opportunities target highly motivated individuals seeking practical exposure within Kenya’s criminal justice and public administration systems.


INTRODUCTION TO ODPP PUPILLAGE PROGRAMME

The ODPP Pupillage Programme is designed to equip newly trained legal graduates with practical experience in prosecution services. It provides hands-on exposure to legal research, trial preparation, courtroom procedures, and public prosecution operations.

The Office is offering twenty positions for Pupillage.

PUPILLAGE OPPORTUNITIES

Requirements for Consideration

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be a Kenyan citizen
• Hold a Degree in Law from a recognized university
• Possess a recommendation letter from the Kenya School of Law confirming completion of the Advocates Training Programme
• Provide an updated Curriculum Vitae
• Submit a copy of the National Identity Card
• Must have cleared university studies not later than the year 2021
• Present a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)

Personal Attributes

The ODPP requires candidates who demonstrate strong professional values and practical competencies. Suitable applicants should:

• Show excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili
• Demonstrate a proactive attitude and a willingness to learn
• Be ready to work collaboratively within teams on demanding assignments

Stipend, Terms of Service, and Benefits

• Monthly allowance of Kshs. 15,000, in line with Public Service Commission Circular Ref. PSC/ADM/14/V(108) dated 16 December 2016
• Pupillage terms apply throughout the six-month engagement
• Pupils are not entitled to leave, medical cover, gratuity, or any additional benefits


ODPP INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME

In addition to Pupillage, the ODPP seeks to recruit interns in various administrative and technical fields. The Internship Programme offers practical experience across different departments to help graduates strengthen their career foundations and gain exposure to public service operations.

AVAILABLE INTERNSHIP POSITIONS

The ODPP invites applications for Internship opportunities in the following disciplines:

  3. • Library and Records Management
  4. • Information, Communication and Technology
  5. • Public Communication
  6. • Supply Chain Management
  7. • Administration

These positions offer valuable learning within key public service functions and are suitable for graduates looking to expand their practical competencies.

Requirements for Internship Engagement

Candidates applying for Internship must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Be a Kenyan citizen
• Hold a Degree in any of the listed Social Sciences from a recognized university:
– Human Resource Management or Development
– Bachelor of Commerce (Finance or Accounts)
– Information Science
– ICT
– Public Communication
– Supply Chain Management
– Administration

OR
• Hold a Diploma Certificate in cases where internship is required for registration by professional bodies

Additional Requirements

• Updated Curriculum Vitae
• Copy of the National Identity Card
• Must have cleared university not later than 2021
• Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the DCI

Ideal candidates for the Internship Programme must demonstrate the following qualities:
