Organizational Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) serves as the UN headquarters in Africa. The Director-General of UNON represents the Secretary-General in Kenya. UNON provides administrative, security, conference, and information services in support of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), the Resident Coordination System (RCS), and other UN offices in Kenya.
This position is located within the Human Resources Management Service (HRMS) under the United Nations Joint Medical Service (JMS), with the duty station in Dadaab. The Nurse will work under the direct supervision of the Assistant Medical Officer and the Head Nurse.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible for supporting medical service delivery within the duty station. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing nursing care and medical support services in accordance with established UN medical standards.
- Assisting in the delivery of clinical services and routine medical procedures.
- Supporting medical consultations and follow-up care.
- Maintaining accurate medical records and documentation.
- Ensuring adherence to medical protocols, safety standards, and infection prevention measures.
- Supporting health promotion and preventive care activities.
- Assisting with emergency response and first aid services when required.
- Performing any other related medical duties as assigned by supervisors.
