Baraton Jeremic Community Medical Centre is seeking a dedicated and experienced Anaesthetist to join our dynamic medical team. The successful candidate is expected to provide high-quality anaesthetic services for surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care throughout the perioperative period.

Job Title: A Resident Anaesthetist

Required Minimum Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate:

1. Must have a Diploma/Bachelors in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.

2. Must have a Higher Diploma in Anaesthesia for approximately 18 months.

3. Must be registered and licensed with the Clinical Officers Council (COC).

4. Must have a minimum 2 years experience as an Anaesthetist in a busy hospital setting.

5. Must provide evidence of up-to-date training in Advanced Life Support (adult, paediatric, and neonatal).

6. Must be a Christian in good and regular standing.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform and document thorough pre-anaesthetic assessments and evaluations to determine the most appropriate anaesthetic plan.

2. Administer all types of anaesthesia (general, regional, and sedation) to patients in the operating room, labour ward, intensive care, and other areas as required.

3. Continuously monitor patients’ vital signs, adjust anaesthetic levels, and manage any complications that may arise throughout a procedure.

4. Manage patients’ pain before, during, and after surgery, and facilitate safe recovery and transfer.

5. Provide resuscitation and stabilization services to patients in emergency and critical care situations.

6. Work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team.

7. Maintain detailed and accurate clinical records of anaesthesia administered and patient responses.

8. Participate in clinical audits, risk management, and adhere to infection prevention and control protocols.

9. Assist in general clinical cases within the hospital, including outpatient and inpatient management as required.

10. Perform any other duties which may be assigned or delegated by the Hospital administration.

1. Must hold an earned PhD in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field from an accredited and recognized university.

2. Must possess specialization in Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and/or the Internet of Things (IoT).

3. Must be a strong Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church believer, committed to upholding and promoting the values, mission, and philosophy of Adventist education.

4. Must demonstrate a strong research background, with evidence of scholarly publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals and/or conference proceedings.

5. Must have teaching experience at university or college level.

6. Must demonstrate the ability to integrate technology, research, and innovation into teaching and learning.

7. Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Teach and facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, and other modes of delivery as assigned by the Head of Department.

2. Participate in curriculum development, academic advising, and other departmental academic activities.

3. Develop, administer, and mark examinations, assignments, and continuous assessment tests.

4. Prepare and update learning materials and maintain accurate records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance.

5. Provide academic advising and guidance to students to support their academic and personal development.

6. Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of high-quality curricula.

7. Participate in research activities, including writing research proposals and applying for research grants.

8. Participate in the organization and delivery of departmental and faculty seminars.

9. Contribute to departmental, faculty, and/or university-wide committees or working groups as required.

10. Uphold and promote institutional values, ethical standards, and the spiritual mission of the University.

11. Perform any other duties which may be assigned or delegated by the University administration.
