This role is based at the Kenya Breweries Limited site in Kasarani, Nairobi, and reports directly to the Fleet Manager. The Driver Lead role is a senior operational position focused on planning, managing, and coordinating heavy goods vehicle (HGV) drivers to ensure that transport services are delivered efficiently, safely, and in line with contractual and organizational standards.

The Driver Lead position is responsible for overseeing all HGV driver activities within the assigned operation. The role exists to ensure that customer requirements are met consistently while maintaining high standards of safety, professionalism, compliance, and cost efficiency. The individual in this role acts as a central point of coordination between drivers, management, control towers, workshops, and operational teams.

Role Outline

The primary purpose of the Driver Lead role is to plan, manage, and coordinate all HGV driver activities in the country to ensure that cost-effective and high-quality service is delivered to both internal and external customers. This is carried out in alignment with DHL Supply Chain strategy, contractual obligations, and statutory requirements.

The role requires a combination of operational oversight, people management, performance monitoring, stakeholder collaboration, and risk control.   1. Operational Management

The Driver Lead is accountable for the day-to-day operational management of HGV drivers within the assigned site and customer operation. This responsibility encompasses service delivery, driver availability, compliance, documentation, performance monitoring, and cost control.

Customer Service and Driver Conduct
The role requires ensuring that both internal and external customers are treated with respect at all times by drivers. Drivers are expected to demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and adherence to service standards during all customer interactions. Driver Availability and Resource Planning

Violation Management and Corrective Action

Qualifications and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
A minimum of five years of experience in logistics operations.
Experience in fuel tracking and cost monitoring.
Experience in managing and planning biweekly driver toolbox meetings.
Proven experience in driver leadership.
Experience in project management and people management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive continuous improvement.
Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant logistics management tools.
A strong understanding of supply chain needs, particularly within a logistics environment.
