Job Description
The Public Information Intern will support the planning and implementation of public information and communication activities for the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General on the Great Lakes Region.
Key responsibilities include assisting with the drafting, editing, and dissemination of communication materials such as press content, web updates, newsletters, and briefing materials. The intern will support media monitoring, content archiving, and the preparation of communication reports.
The role also involves supporting digital communication initiatives, including social media content preparation and website updates, to enhance the visibility of the office’s work. The intern will assist in organizing communication-related events, campaigns, and outreach activities.
Working closely with public information officers and programme staff, the intern will help ensure accurate, timely, and consistent messaging aligned with United Nations communication standards. The position may also involve basic research, fact-checking, and coordination tasks in support of public information objectives.
This internship provides exposure to strategic communication within an international organization and contributes directly to promoting awareness of peacebuilding and regional cooperation efforts.
