The Embassy of Finland in Nairobi is seeking to recruit two Consular Service Officers, starting on 2 March 2026 (or as agreed).
This is a two-year fixed-term position. The Consular Service Officer will work as part of the Embassy’s Consular Service team.
The Embassy of Finland in Nairobi is the largest Finnish mission in Africa, covering a total of five countries and two UN organizations.
Working at the embassy gives you the opportunity to promote Finland’s interests around the world and gain insight into both government administration and the everyday life of international relations.
A consular officer works as part of the consular and immigration team.
The key tasks of the task manager are:
- Assistance in immigration matters, including receiving and processing visa and residence permit applications, including interviews with applicants
- Assistance with passport matters
- Consular Services Customer Service
- Responding to customer inquiries and communicating with the visa application center
- Participation in updating the embassy’s website and social media
- Other tasks assigned by the Head of Mission and immediate superior
Successful performance of the task requires the ability to work both independently and in a team in a multicultural environment, decision-making skills and good computer skills.
We expect the task manager to have good interaction skills, customer service attitude, diligence and the ability to work under pressure.
Previous experience in similar tasks in Finnish missions abroad is considered an advantage.
The salary will be determined according to the local salary level. The selected person will be directly employed by the embassy.
