1) TUTORIAL FELLOW, SCHOOL OF CLINICAL MEDICINE

Job Description

The Tutorial Fellow in the School of Clinical Medicine will support teaching, learning, research, and academic development activities within the school. The role is essential in enhancing the quality of medical education by supporting students through instruction, mentorship, assessment, and academic guidance, while also contributing to scholarly activities aligned with the university’s objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the delivery of lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, and clinical demonstrations as assigned within the School of Clinical Medicine.
  • Support the preparation, development, and review of teaching and learning materials in line with approved curricula.
  • Participate in student assessment processes, including setting examinations, invigilation, marking, and moderation under guidance.
  • Provide academic support and mentorship to students to enhance learning outcomes and professional development.
  • Assist in supervising student projects, clinical attachments, and other academic activities as required.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, academic planning sessions, and curriculum development initiatives.
  • Support research activities within the school, including data collection, analysis, and preparation of reports or publications.
  • Contribute to quality assurance processes and continuous improvement of teaching and learning standards.
  • Undertake any other academic or administrative duties assigned by the Head of Department or School.

2) DEPUTY REGISTRAR, ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATION

Job Description

The Deputy Registrar, Academic Administration will play a key role in supporting the effective management and coordination of academic administrative functions of the university. The position is responsible for ensuring efficient delivery of academic services, compliance with academic policies and regulations, and smooth coordination between faculties, departments, and central administration.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Registrar in planning, coordinating, and managing academic administration activities across the university.
  • Oversee implementation of academic policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate academic calendars, timetabling, examinations, grading, and certification processes.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance and management of academic records, including admissions, registration, progression, and graduation data.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to staff within the Academic Administration function to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Liaise with schools, faculties, and departments to support academic planning, programme implementation, and reporting.
  • Prepare academic reports, statistics, and documentation for management, senate, and other governance organs.
  • Support accreditation, quality assurance, and audit processes related to academic administration.
  • Handle student academic matters, appeals, and inquiries in line with approved policies.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Registrar or University Management from time to time.

3) ALUMNI RELATIONS OFFICER

Number of Positions: One (1)
School/Faculty: Directorate of Alumni and Career Services
Campus: Thika

Job Description

The Alumni Relations Officer will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and strengthening relationships between the university and its alumni. The role focuses on alumni engagement, communication, networking, and collaboration to support institutional development, student mentorship, career services, and the university’s long-term strategic goals.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement alumni engagement strategies to foster strong and sustainable relationships with MKU graduates.
  • Maintain and update the alumni database to ensure accurate and current records.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support alumni events, reunions, networking forums, and outreach activities.
  • Act as a key point of contact between the university and alumni, responding to inquiries and facilitating engagement initiatives.
  • Work closely with internal departments to integrate alumni participation in mentorship, career guidance, and institutional activities.
  • Support communication initiatives, including newsletters, announcements, and alumni-focused content.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for alumni involvement in university development, partnerships, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Prepare reports on alumni activities, engagement levels, and outcomes for management review.
  • Support the promotion of the university’s brand and reputation through positive alumni relations.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Director, Alumni and Career Services.
