The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development invites applications from qualified, competent, and motivated professionals to fill a range of vacant positions on a permanent and pensionable basis. The recruitment seeks to strengthen the Institute’s technical, academic, administrative, audit, and support functions in line with its mandate of developing, reviewing, and approving curricula and curriculum support materials for basic and teacher education in Kenya.

The Institute plays a central role in shaping the education system and advancing the national vision of a skilled and ethical society. To effectively deliver on this mandate, KICD requires experienced professionals with strong technical expertise, curriculum development capacity, administrative competence, and institutional governance skills.

The positions advertised span senior leadership roles, curriculum development specialists across multiple subject areas, audit and assurance functions, technical services, broadcasting, printing, and resource mobilization. Successful candidates will be deployed according to organizational needs and will be expected to contribute to policy, innovation, quality assurance, and service delivery within the Institute.

Available Positions

  1. Assistant Director, Technical Services

The Assistant Director, Technical Services provides leadership and oversight of technical operations supporting curriculum development, production, and dissemination activities within the Institute.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing technical services supporting curriculum development and implementation processes
  • Coordinating maintenance and optimal utilization of technical infrastructure and systems
  • Supporting development and implementation of technical policies, standards, and procedures
  • Supervising technical teams and ensuring effective service delivery
  • Advising management on technical capacity needs and system improvements
  • Supporting procurement, deployment, and maintenance of technical equipment
  • Preparing technical reports and performance updates
  • Performing any other duties assigned by the Institute
  1. Senior Curriculum Development Officer, Special Needs Education – Visual Impairment

This role supports curriculum design, adaptation, and review for learners with visual impairment.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Developing and reviewing curricula tailored to learners with visual impairment
  • Adapting curriculum materials to ensure accessibility and inclusivity
  • Supporting integration of special needs education principles into mainstream curricula
  • Participating in research to inform inclusive curriculum design
  • Collaborating with stakeholders involved in special needs education

  1. Assistant Director, NRC & Resource Mobilization

The Assistant Director supports national resource coordination and mobilization initiatives for curriculum development and implementation.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating national and external resource mobilization initiatives
  • Supporting development of partnerships and funding proposals
  • Managing relationships with development partners and stakeholders
  • Tracking utilization and reporting of mobilized resources
  • Supporting strategic planning and sustainability initiatives
  • Preparing reports on resource mobilization activities

  1. Assistant Director, Educational Broadcasting

This role oversees educational broadcasting initiatives that support curriculum delivery through media platforms.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating production and dissemination of educational broadcast content
  • Supporting integration of broadcasting into curriculum delivery strategies
  • Supervising educational media production teams
  • Ensuring quality and relevance of broadcast educational materials

  • Managing printing supplies and materials
  • Supporting binding, finishing, and storage of printed materials

  1. Principal Internal Auditor

The Principal Internal Auditor provides independent assurance on governance, risk management, and internal controls.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Planning and conducting internal audits across Institute operations
  • Evaluating effectiveness of internal controls and risk management systems
  • Reviewing compliance with policies, laws, and regulations
  • Preparing audit reports with findings and recommendations
  • Following up on implementation of audit recommendations
  • Advising management on governance and control improvements
  • Performing other audit-related duties as assigned
  1. Senior Curriculum Development Officer, English / Literature in English

This role supports curriculum development in English and Literature in English.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Participating in curriculum research and evaluation
  • Supporting development of instructional materials
  • Engaging teachers and stakeholders during curriculum implementation

  1. Senior Curriculum Development Officer, Marine and Fisheries Technology

This role focuses on technical and vocational curriculum development in marine and fisheries technology.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Developing and reviewing curricula in marine and fisheries technology

  • Supporting development of practical training materials
  • Participating in curriculum validation and evaluation

  • Supporting risk assessment and control improvement initiatives
  • Coordinating follow-up on audit recommendations
