1. Call for External Examiners – Doctoral Programs
USIU-Africa invites applications from suitably qualified professionals to serve as External Examiners for its Doctoral Programs. The University seeks individuals who will contribute to maintaining academic rigor, quality assurance, and international standards in doctoral education.
Job Description
The External Examiner will play a critical role in evaluating doctoral research and ensuring that assessment processes meet established academic and professional benchmarks. Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing doctoral theses and dissertations to ensure they meet the required academic and research standards
- Participating in the assessment of doctoral candidates, including evaluation of written work and oral examinations where applicable
- Providing independent and objective feedback on the quality of research, supervision, and assessment processes
- Advising the University on academic standards, comparability, and consistency of doctoral programs
- Submitting detailed examination reports within agreed timelines
- Supporting continuous improvement of doctoral programs through professional recommendations
This role contributes significantly to upholding the integrity, credibility, and global recognition of USIU-Africa’s doctoral offerings.
2. The University Secretary
USIU-Africa seeks a dynamic and experienced professional to fill the position of University Secretary. This is a senior leadership role that supports the effective governance, administration, and statutory compliance of the University.
Job Description
The University Secretary will be responsible for ensuring efficient coordination of governance structures and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Key duties include:
- Serving as the principal advisor to the University Council on governance, statutory, and regulatory matters
- Coordinating meetings of the University Council and its committees, including preparation of agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions
- Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies
- Managing official University records, seals, and statutory documentation
- Facilitating effective communication between governance organs, management, and stakeholders
- Supporting the implementation of governance best practices across the University
- Overseeing corporate governance frameworks and ensuring institutional accountability
This role is central to maintaining transparency, institutional integrity, and effective decision-making within the University.
3. The Human Resource Director
USIU-Africa invites applications for the position of Human Resource Director, a strategic leadership role responsible for guiding the University’s human capital agenda in support of its mission and strategic objectives.
Job Description
The Human Resource Director will lead the development and execution of human resource strategies and ensure effective people management across the University. Core responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic leadership in human resource planning, development, and management
- Overseeing recruitment, staffing, and workforce planning processes
- Managing employee relations, performance management systems, and staff engagement initiatives
- Ensuring implementation of HR policies, procedures, and best practices
- Advising senior leadership on human capital issues and organizational development
- Overseeing training, talent development, and succession planning initiatives
- Ensuring compliance with labor laws, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements
