These positions are based in Kitui, Kenya, and offer competitive terms of employment on a one-year renewable contract basis. 1. Driver – SEKU Grade 13 (Former Grade 3)

Job Specification
The Driver will be responsible for:

  • Driving assigned plant/vehicles within the University premises.
  • Ensuring the safety and security of the plant/vehicles under their care to minimize pilferage and extend the lifespan of the vehicles.
  • Maintaining and updating work tickets for vehicles and plant.
  • Implementing scheduled maintenance for vehicles.
  • Ensuring all necessary insurance and licenses are up to date.

Person Specification
For consideration for this role, applicants must:

  • Have a minimum of KCSE D Plain or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Have at least four (4) years of relevant work experience.
  • Hold a valid Driving License in classes A, B, C, E, and PSV.
  • Possess a Certificate of Good Conduct.
  • Be proficient in both English and Kiswahili.
  • Be computer literate.

2. Plant Operator – SEKU Grade 13 (Former Grade 3)

Job Specification
The duties of the Plant Operator will include:

  • Operating heavy plant equipment (Class B and C) to ensure maximum farm production within the University’s farm.
  • Keeping records of services for the plant, machinery, and equipment, and preparing service schedules to ensure targets are met.
  • Supervising junior plant operators and assisting them in identifying and addressing breakdowns.
  • Guiding plant operators and attendants in the maintenance and use of equipment.
  • Supervising cleanliness of the plant and equipment.
  • Maintaining plant work tickets.

Person Specification
To be considered for this position, applicants must:

  • Have at least four (4) years of relevant work experience.
  • Hold a valid driving license for classes BCED & H.
  • Have a defensive driving certificate.

3. Senior Security Assistant – SEKU Grade 10 (Former Grade 6)

Job Specification
The Senior Security Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Conducting periodic patrols within the University to ensure security at all times.
  • Monitoring access to student hostels and ensuring only authorized individuals are allowed entry.
  • Issuing visitor badges for easy identification and access control.
  • Managing incidents of theft or loss and reporting them for investigation.
  • Supervising the security guards and maintaining the Occurrence Book.
  • Ensuring the welfare of security staff and that all security tools and uniforms are available.

Person Specification

  • Hold a Diploma in Criminology, Social Order, or a related field.
  • Have at least four (4) years of working experience in security work.
  • Be at least 30 years of age.

The Security Officer will assist with:

  • Allocating daily tasks to security staff to ensure optimal manpower utilization.

  • Supervising farm produce and equipment security.

The Assistant ICT Officer may be deployed in one of three areas: Business Applications, Database, or Infrastructure Support. Duties in each area include:

Business Applications:

  • Carry out systems analysis and develop programming specifications.
  • Customize and update application systems and test new applications.
  • Research new technologies and train users on the applications.

Database:

  • Administer and manage databases to ensure their performance and security.
  • Troubleshoot database problems and ensure smooth database integration into the operational environment.

Infrastructure & Support:
