Introduction:
The Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) is a pivotal institution in driving innovation, science, and technology for national development. The Agency’s mandate is to develop, coordinate, and manage the National Innovation System of Kenya, contributing towards the advancement of the country’s innovation ecosystem. In accordance with the Science, Technology and Innovation (ST&I) Act, Cap. 511, the Selection Panel for the recruitment of the Chairperson and Members of the Board for KeNIA invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to provide leadership and strategic oversight in the Agency’s role in advancing Kenya’s innovation landscape.

Chairperson and Members of the Board, Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA)
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidates will be tasked with providing strategic direction to KeNIA by overseeing the implementation of the Agency’s policies and programs. Specific duties will include:
- Leading the governance framework of the Agency, ensuring effective coordination and management of the National Innovation System.
- Setting the strategic priorities for the Agency in line with national development goals, particularly in the areas of science, technology, and innovation.
- Promoting the commercialization of innovative ideas and ensuring that Kenya’s innovation landscape fosters sustainable development.
- Providing leadership in resource mobilization to support the Agency’s initiatives and national innovation strategies.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and governance frameworks within the Agency’s operations.
Requirements for Applicants:
- Applicants should possess a proven track record in leadership and demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) management.
- Commercialization systems and innovation financing.
- Legal, regulatory, and policy frameworks for innovation.
- Resource mobilization and financial management.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge and experience in developing and managing start-up ecosystems.
- Expertise in policy formulation and implementation related to STI.
- Strong understanding of innovation-related laws and regulations.
- Ability to mobilize resources to support innovation initiatives.
- Proven leadership capabilities and high ethical standards.
