The Project Assistant Officer – Component III (Backend Developer) will support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of backend components of the Accreditation Information Management System (AIMS) under the E-APK Project. The officer will work under the supervision of the Component III Coordinator to ensure reliable server-side functionality, secure data management, and effective system integrations that meet user and institutional requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the selected candidate will entail:
i. Backend development of AIMS modules including server-side logic, databases, and APIs.
ii. Participate in requirements gathering and translation into technical backend specifications.
iii. Design and implementation of database structures and data models.
iv. Integrate AIMS with internal and external systems and services.
v. Implement approved coding standards and version control practices.
vi. Participate in system testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
vii. Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and address issues arising from QA processes.
viii. Provide technical documentation, deployment guides, and system manuals.
ix. Resolve backend-related incidents and service requests.
x. Monitor backend system performance and support enhancement activities.
xi. Participate in change management and rollout of system updates and releases.
xii. Prepare routine progress and technical status reports.
xiii. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Component III Coordinator or Project Management
Academic and Professional Qualifications
i. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
ii. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in backend software development or related ICT field.
iii. Additional training or certification in databases, programming, or application development will be an added advantage
iv. Demonstrated results in work performance
v. Proficiency in Computer applications
vi. Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
Skills and Competencies
i. Knowledge of backend programming languages and frameworks.
ii. Experience in database development and administration.
iii. Understanding of API development, web services, and system integrations.
iv. Familiarity with secure coding practices and data protection principles.
v. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.
