The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) plays a central role in Kenya’s criminal justice system by ensuring that prosecutions are conducted fairly, efficiently, and in accordance with the Constitution and the rule of law. Established under Article 157 of the Constitution of Kenya and operationalized through the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Act No. 2 of 2013, the Office is mandated to institute and undertake criminal proceedings against individuals suspected of committing criminal offences.
Pursuant to Section 13 (2) of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Act No. 2 of 2013, the Office has the authority to appoint, control and supervise its staff in a manner necessary to support the promotion of its mandate. In line with strengthening institutional capacity and enhancing service delivery across the prosecution service, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill several vacant positions.

Clerical Officer
The Clerical Officer supports administrative and records management functions within the Office by ensuring efficient documentation, proper filing systems and smooth flow of information across departments. The role supports prosecutors and administrative units through organized documentation and clerical services that enhance operational efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintaining and updating office filing systems and records to ensure easy retrieval of documents
- Receiving, sorting and dispatching incoming and outgoing correspondence and documents
- Preparing routine office documents, letters, and reports as directed by supervisors
- Recording and maintaining administrative data and documentation registers
- Supporting document tracking and records management processes within the office
- Assisting in photocopying, scanning, printing and distribution of official documents
- Ensuring proper organization and safe custody of files and records
- Supporting office administrative tasks assigned by departmental supervisors
Office Assistant III
The Office Assistant III provides support services that ensure smooth daily operations within departmental offices. The role contributes to maintaining an organized working environment and facilitating the movement of files and communication within the institution.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting in the movement and delivery of files and documents between offices and departments
- Supporting document dispatch and collection activities within the office
- Assisting in photocopying, scanning and distribution of official documents
- Supporting office logistics including meeting preparations and document arrangements
- Maintaining cleanliness and order within assigned office areas
- Assisting in basic office maintenance and administrative support tasks
- Supporting staff with routine office errands and operational tasks
- Ensuring safe handling and delivery of official materials and documents
Accountant
The Accountant supports financial management functions within the Office by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting in financial reporting and supporting compliance with public sector financial management regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintaining and updating accounting records and financial documentation
- Assisting in preparation of financial statements and financial reports
- Supporting the preparation and monitoring of departmental budgets
- Verifying financial transactions and ensuring proper documentation of expenditures
- Processing financial documents including vouchers and payment records
- Assisting in reconciliation of financial records and accounts
- Supporting financial reporting and internal control processes
- Ensuring compliance with applicable financial management regulations
ICT Officer
The ICT Officer supports the development, maintenance and management of the Office’s information and communication technology infrastructure. The role ensures that digital systems and networks operate effectively to support institutional operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Installing, configuring and maintaining ICT hardware and software systems
- Providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to staff
- Monitoring system performance and ensuring system security and reliability
- Supporting maintenance of institutional databases and digital records systems
- Assisting in the implementation of ICT projects and digital solutions

Prosecution Counsel
The Prosecution Counsel is responsible for conducting criminal prosecutions on behalf of the state and supporting the effective administration of justice through professional legal representation in criminal proceedings.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviewing investigation files submitted by investigative agencies
- Determining appropriate criminal charges based on available evidence
- Representing the Office in criminal proceedings before courts of law
- Presenting evidence and examining witnesses during court hearings
- Preparing legal arguments and case documentation for prosecution
- Advising investigative agencies on legal issues during investigations
- Participating in case preparation and case management processes
- Ensuring prosecutions comply with legal standards and constitutional principles
Supply Chain Management Officer
The Supply Chain Management Officer supports procurement and asset management processes within the Office to ensure efficient acquisition and management of institutional resources.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supporting procurement planning and implementation processes
- Preparing procurement documentation and maintaining procurement records
- Assisting in supplier evaluation and procurement compliance processes
- Monitoring inventory levels and supporting inventory management systems
- Coordinating procurement activities in accordance with procurement regulations

Research Officer
The Research Officer supports evidence-based decision making by conducting research and analysis on legal, policy and operational issues related to prosecution and criminal justice.

- Conducting legal and policy research to support institutional decision making
- Collecting and analyzing data related to prosecution trends and legal developments
- Preparing research reports, policy briefs and analytical documents
- Supporting preparation of institutional reports and strategic documents

Audit Officer
The Audit Officer supports internal audit functions aimed at strengthening accountability, financial integrity and operational efficiency within the Office.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participating in internal audit assignments across departments
- Reviewing financial records and operational procedures for compliance
- Assessing effectiveness of internal control systems and risk management processes
