The Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) is a State Corporation established under Section 3 of the Agriculture and Food Authority Act No. 13 of 2013. The Authority plays a central role in regulating the crops sector in Kenya by ensuring compliance with established regulatory frameworks, standards, and codes of practice. The AFA Act provides for the consolidation of laws relating to the regulation and promotion of agriculture in Kenya. It further outlines the respective roles of the National and County Governments in agricultural development in alignment with the Fourth Schedule of the Constitution of Kenya.
In line with its statutory mandate, the Board of the Agriculture and Food Authority seeks to recruit qualified and competent Kenyan professionals to fill a number of vacant positions on permanent and pensionable terms. These positions span across technical, administrative, operational, and support functions within the Authority.

Available Positions and Job Descriptions
Director (Technical Directorate)
The Director (Technical Directorate) will provide strategic leadership and oversight of all technical functions within the Authority. The role is responsible for ensuring that all technical operations align with the Authority’s mandate and national agricultural policies.
The Director will coordinate technical departments, guide policy implementation, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards across the crops sector. This includes overseeing research initiatives, compliance frameworks, product standards, and innovation strategies.
The position requires close collaboration with stakeholders in both public and private sectors to promote best agricultural practices and ensure the effective regulation of crops.
Compliance Officer II
The Compliance Officer II will be responsible for enforcing regulatory standards within the crops sector. The role involves monitoring adherence to laws, regulations, and codes of practice governing agricultural production and trade.
The officer will conduct inspections, audits, and field visits to ensure compliance among stakeholders. Additionally, the role includes documenting findings, preparing compliance reports, and recommending corrective actions where necessary.
The position also supports the implementation of compliance programs and contributes to policy enforcement across the Authority’s operational areas.
Market and Product Development Officer II
The Market and Product Development Officer II will support initiatives aimed at enhancing market access and product competitiveness within the agricultural sector.
The role involves conducting market research, identifying emerging trends, and supporting the development of value-added agricultural products. The officer will collaborate with stakeholders to promote market linkages and facilitate product development strategies.
Additionally, the position contributes to the design and implementation of programs that enhance agricultural commercialization and improve farmers’ access to local and international markets.
Records Management Officer II
The Records Management Officer II will oversee the organization, maintenance, and accessibility of records within the Authority.
The role involves implementing records management systems, ensuring compliance with records retention policies, and safeguarding institutional information. The officer will also facilitate efficient document retrieval processes and support digital transformation initiatives related to records management.
The position is critical in ensuring accountability, transparency, and proper documentation of the Authority’s operations.
Crops Development Officer II
The Crops Development Officer II will support the development and promotion of crop production initiatives across the country.
The role includes engaging with farmers, stakeholders, and agricultural institutions to promote best practices in crop production. The officer will also support research, extension services, and the implementation of agricultural programs.
Additionally, the position involves monitoring crop performance, advising on productivity improvements, and supporting policy implementation in the crops sector.
Security Officer II
The Security Officer II will be responsible for maintaining safety and security within the Authority’s premises and operations.
The role includes implementing security protocols, monitoring access control systems, and responding to security incidents. The officer will also coordinate with law enforcement agencies where necessary and ensure compliance with security standards.

Statistics Officer II

Assistant Compliance Officer III
The Assistant Compliance Officer III will support compliance monitoring activities within the Authority.

This position provides operational support to compliance teams and ensures adherence to regulatory requirements.
Assistant Quality Assurance Officer III
The Assistant Quality Assurance Officer III will support quality control processes within the crops sector.
The role involves assisting in the inspection of agricultural products, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and supporting certification processes. The officer will also contribute to quality assurance programs and documentation.
The position plays a key role in maintaining product standards and ensuring consumer safety.
Artisan III

The Artisan III roles involve providing technical support in maintenance and repair of equipment, systems, and infrastructure within the Authority.
The Mechanical Artisan will focus on maintaining machinery and mechanical systems, ensuring operational efficiency and minimizing downtime.
The Electrical Artisan will handle electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs to ensure safe and reliable power systems.
The Plumbing Artisan will manage water systems, drainage, and plumbing infrastructure, ensuring proper functionality and compliance with standards.
All artisans will be responsible for routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and supporting operational continuity within the Authority.
Baler III
The Baler III will support agricultural operations related to the processing and packaging of crops.
The role involves operating baling equipment, ensuring proper handling of agricultural produce, and maintaining equipment functionality. The position also includes supporting logistics and storage processes.
The Baler III contributes to efficiency in post-harvest handling and product preparation.
Drivers III
The Drivers III will be responsible for providing transport services within the Authority.
The role includes driving official vehicles, ensuring safety during transportation, and maintaining vehicle condition. Drivers will also support logistical operations and ensure timely delivery of services.
Additionally, the position involves adherence to traffic regulations and organizational transport policies.
Office Assistant III
The Office Assistant III will provide administrative and support services within the Authority.
The role includes handling office errands, maintaining cleanliness, assisting with document handling, and supporting daily office operations. The position ensures smooth workflow within administrative units.
