Infotrak Research & Consulting, a reputable research firm known for delivering data-driven insights across various sectors, is currently seeking to recruit skilled and experienced enumerators for an upcoming field project. This opportunity is designed for individuals who are passionate about research, data collection, and community engagement, particularly within the livestock and agricultural sectors.

The project will be implemented across five counties in Kenya, namely Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Kiambu, Kajiado, and Nairobi. Each county will have five enumerator positions available, presenting a valuable opportunity for qualified candidates residing within these regions to participate in impactful research that informs policy, development programs, and strategic decision-making.

This role is particularly suitable for individuals with a background in animal husbandry and hands-on experience in field data collection. It offers a chance to engage directly with communities, contribute to meaningful research, and strengthen professional experience in survey execution and data handling.

Enumerators will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the data collected. They will be expected to conduct interviews using digital tools, maintain professionalism when interacting with respondents, and adhere strictly to research protocols.

The Enumerator will be responsible for conducting structured field interviews, collecting data using digital tools, and ensuring that all information gathered aligns with the project’s research standards and ethical requirements.

The role demands professionalism, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively across different community settings.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct structured interviews using digital questionnaires by following the exact wording, sequence, and logic programmed into the survey tools, ensuring that every response is captured accurately and in real time without omissions or alterations

• Introduce the survey to respondents in a clear and professional manner by explaining the purpose of the study, its relevance, expected duration, and how the collected data will be used, while ensuring that participation is voluntary and based on informed consent

• Engage respondents respectfully and professionally across diverse environments, including rural and urban settings, while building rapport that encourages honest and complete responses

• Strictly adhere to all survey protocols and instructions provided during training, including skip patterns, probing techniques, and response validation rules, to maintain consistency and avoid introducing bias into the data

• Ensure high levels of data quality by reviewing each completed questionnaire before submission, checking for completeness, internal consistency, and accuracy, and correcting any discrepancies through immediate clarification with respondents where possible

• Accurately record both quantitative and qualitative responses, ensuring that open-ended responses are captured verbatim and reflect the respondent’s views without interpretation or modification

• Operate and manage digital data collection tools such as smartphones or tablets efficiently, including navigating survey applications, saving responses, syncing data, and troubleshooting minor technical issues in the field

• Safeguard all assigned equipment and ensure proper handling at all times, including maintaining battery levels, preventing physical damage, and securing devices against loss or unauthorized access

• Maintain strict confidentiality and data protection standards by ensuring that respondent information is not shared, disclosed, or accessed by unauthorized individuals at any stage of the data collection process

• Submit collected data within the required timelines by syncing completed interviews to the central system, ensuring that submissions are timely, accurate, and aligned with reporting schedules

• Provide regular updates to field supervisors regarding daily progress, including the number of interviews completed, challenges encountered, and any deviations from planned activities

• Plan and organize daily fieldwork schedules effectively by identifying target locations, arranging travel routes, managing time efficiently, and ensuring maximum coverage within assigned areas

• Navigate different field environments, including remote or hard-to-reach locations, while maintaining professionalism and ensuring that all assigned interviews are completed within the stipulated timeframe

• Identify and report field challenges promptly, including respondent refusal, language barriers, accessibility constraints, or inconsistencies in survey understanding, and seek guidance where necessary

• Apply appropriate problem-solving approaches in the field to handle unexpected situations while remaining compliant with project guidelines and ethical standards

• Maintain accurate records of field activities, including logs of visited households, completed interviews, incomplete responses, and any observations that may impact data interpretation

• Collaborate with other enumerators and field supervisors to ensure consistency in data collection approaches and share insights that may improve overall field performance

• Uphold professional conduct at all times, including punctuality, respectful communication, and adherence to organizational values and expectations during interactions with respondents and stakeholders

• Ensure compliance with all ethical standards governing research activities, including respect for respondents’ rights, voluntary participation, and avoidance of any form of coercion or misrepresentation

• Participate in training sessions, briefings, and debriefings as required, and apply the knowledge gained to improve performance and data collection accuracy throughout the project lifecycle

• Represent the organization positively in the field by maintaining integrity, professionalism, and accountability in all assigned duties and interactions

• Monitor and report any inconsistencies, unusual patterns, or potential data quality concerns observed during fieldwork to support data validation and overall project success

• Ensure proper closure of each interview by thanking respondents, confirming completion, and addressing any final questions or concerns raised by participants

• Adhere strictly to project timelines and targets, ensuring that all assigned interviews are completed within the designated period without compromising data quality or ethical standards
