KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme (KWTRP) is a world-renowned, multidisciplinary research unit of excellence dedicated to improving health and building research leadership across Africa. Established in 1989, KWTRP is a partnership between the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), Wellcome, and the University of Oxford. With hubs in Kenya (Kilifi and Nairobi) and Uganda, the Programme brings together over 100 research scientists and 700+ support staff.
Our work covers integrated epidemiological, clinical, social, and laboratory research. We prioritize strong community engagement and collaborative partnerships to ensure our research impacts health policy and practice locally and globally
