The Embassy of Finland in Nairobi is seeking a locally hired Coordinator to join the mission’s Kenya team. The position is temporary, for the period 1 May 2026–31 March 2028 or by agreement.
Coordinator (Kenya team)
The Finnish Embassy in Nairobi has a broad scope of operations, covering five countries and two UN organizations. Working in the Foreign Service provides an opportunity to promote Finland’s interests around the world and gain insight into both government administration and the everyday life of international relations.
The coordinator works as part of the Kenya team. The task emphasizes monitoring and reporting on current political issues in Kenya, in addition to which the coordinator is responsible for the entire mission’s communications together with other teams. The main tasks include;
- Monitoring, analyzing and reporting on the political situation in Kenya
- Responsible for the mission’s communications (especially social media), maintenance and implementation of the communications plan, and extensive networking on communications issues
- Supporting Finland’s development cooperation in Kenya, with particular emphasis on vocational training and youth employment and private sector instruments
- Various event and visit arrangements and country image work as part of the mission’s work
- Other tasks assigned by superior
The applicant is expected to:
- Relevant university degree, e.g. political science, social science, law, business science
- Work experience or other acquired understanding of international cooperation and diplomatic relations
- Good interpersonal skills, social nature and ability to collaborate with various stakeholders
- Good written output: ability to effectively produce short, clear and concise reports
- Diverse and innovative communication experience and experience in using social media
- Good ability to work under pressure and the ability to function in a multicultural environment
- Excellent oral and written skills in Finnish and English, in addition to which knowledge of Swedish is considered an advantage
The salary will be determined according to the local salary level. The selected person will be directly employed by the embassy.
