Positions needed: 1Job Objective

To oversee the design, development, planning and delivery of a programme of teaching to students in order to ensure teaching within the quality assurance framework of the University and generation of revenue for the institution, lead the development and implementation of the University�s research strategy, coordinating research activity within the specific subject area, lead the development of and to manage research projects, mentor staff, lead the provision of service to the community and the professions, lead the translation and implementation of knowledge into practice, write or publish books or other creative works and offer services as a senior consultant or specialist in the area of discipline.Duties and responsibilities

  • To teach in areas allocated by the Head of Department. 
  • Design, develop, plan and deliver a range of programmes of study, sometimes for entirely new courses at various levels. 
  • Deliver high-quality lectures and practicals. 
  • Oversee clinical practice, providing students with real-world learning experiences and guidelines in hospitals or clinical settings. 
  • Review course content and materials on a regular basis, updating when required. 
  • Collaborate with academic colleagues on course development, curriculum changes and the development of research activities. 
  • Carry out research and write research grant proposals. 
  • Seek and participate in consultancies. 
  • Present research papers at national or international conferences and other similar events. 
  • Dissemination of research outputs. 
  • Provide mentorship and career guidance to students and staff. 
  • Ensure all academic activities align with the standards of the Nursing Council of Kenya 
  • Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor. 

qualification and experience

  • PhD/Doctorate in Nursing (Medical-Surgical, Midwifery, Paediatrics, Critical Care, Community Health Nursing) or equivalent degree qualification in a relevant area from an accredited university. 
  • Master of Science Nursing (Medical-Surgical, Midwifery, Paediatrics, Critical Care, Community Health Nursing) or equivalent degree qualification in a relevant area from an accredited university. 
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree or a relevant field from a recognised/accredited University. 
  • At least three years of teaching/research experience at the University level as a Senior Lecturer. 
  • Accumulated at least 120 publication points*
  • Supervised at least six (6) postgraduate students, two (2) at doctoral level to completion.
  • Attended and contributed at academic conferences, seminars and workshops.
  • Evidence of academic and research leadership in the area of specialisation through teaching and joint research publications.
  • Evidence of continued research, postgraduate supervision and effective teaching.
  • Evidence of a member of relevant professional bodies and awareness of national and international issues.
  • Evidence of leadership and awareness of national and international issues.
  • Attracted research funds as an Associate Professor or Associate Research Professor.
