Investment Officer/Operations Officer – East and Southern Africa

About the Role:
The Investment Officer/Operations Officer will play a pivotal role in advancing gender and economic inclusion across East and Southern Africa. Working within the Regional Gender Hub, you will deliver impactful client solutions, manage projects, and collaborate with IFC teams to accelerate inclusion in private sector initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Delivery and Business Development:

  • Manage and deliver existing portfolio projects in East and Southern Africa, ensuring high-quality services and robust governance.
  • Identify and embed gender and inclusion solutions in existing and pipeline investment and advisory projects.
  • Design and implement flagship initiatives and country programs to address gender barriers and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Oversee and manage staff and consultants to achieve program goals.

Strategy, Communications, and Partnerships:

  • Provide consistent input and support to sub-regional and country management on gender issues.
  • Collaborate with communications teams to promote gender and economic inclusion topics externally at events, with partners, and in the media.
  • Strengthen partnerships with private sector entities, development partners, and government counterparts to amplify impact.

Selection Criteria

  • Master’s degree in economics, finance, business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in private sector development, preferably in emerging markets, with a focus on gender and inclusion.
  • Proven expertise in structuring investment and advisory projects with results frameworks to capture gender and inclusion outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English; fluency in Portuguese or Swahili is a plus.
