Job Purpose
The Business Development Executive will manage and drive top-line growth by identifying and developing new business opportunities, building strong relationships with clients and intermediaries, and delivering exceptional customer service in the Asian Markets.
This role involves working closely with the underwriting team, branch manager, and other business lines to achieve sales objectives and maintain client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. New Business Acquisition
- Secure new General Insurance (GI) business through intermediaries and direct channels.
- Develop and implement strategies to recruit and convert Financial Advisors (FAs) and Independent Financial Agents (IFAs) to place general insurance business with Britam.
- Use authorized incentive schemes to attract new business and train intermediaries on these schemes.
2. Client Retention and Servicing
- Retain existing GI business by delivering exceptional service to intermediaries and clients.
- Follow up on renewals for general insurance policies to ensure business continuity.
- Resolve customer complaints promptly to maintain client satisfaction.
3. Collaboration and Strategic Partnerships
- Create and nurture strategic partnerships with intermediaries to maximize business opportunities.
- Work closely with underwriters, branch managers, and other business lines to meet set objectives.
- Share market intelligence and insights with supervisors to align strategies with market dynamics.
4. Training and Development
- Train intermediaries on general insurance products and submit training schedules to supervisors.
- Promote awareness of incentive schemes among intermediaries to encourage business growth.
5. Operational Excellence
- Prepare and submit weekly and daily reports as required.
- Undertake initial underwriting in line with set guidelines to ensure sound risk acceptance.
- Handle customer and client inquiries and follow up on premium collections.
- Monitor commissions and claims issues from intermediaries and address them effectively.
6. Market Insights and Adjustments
- Continuously execute and review strategies per market to achieve objectives.
- Provide market intelligence and recommend adjustments to ensure competitiveness in the Asian Market segment.
Delegated Authority
The role holder will operate within the approved delegated authority matrix.
Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
- Professional Certification: Diploma in Insurance (DIP ACII, DIP IIK, ACII, or IIK).
- Experience: 3-6 years of relevant experience in the insurance industry, with hands-on experience in handling Asian Markets preferred.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with intermediaries and clients.
