Job Description:

As the Communication Officer, you will be responsible for supporting all communication functions of the ENGAGE project, ensuring that branding, visibility, and project messaging align with donor guidelines. You will work closely with the Project Manager to document project milestones, success stories, and community impact while producing high-quality communication materials.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Photo and Video Library Management:
    • Organize and manage the ENGAGE project’s photo and video library to ensure materials are accessible, up-to-date, and available for project use.
  2. Story Development:
    • Collaborate with project staff on a weekly basis to identify compelling story leads and success stories.
  3. Audio-Visual Content Creation:
    • Record and produce audio and video clips of beneficiaries to enhance project visibility and community engagement.
  4. Tool Design and Development:
    • Design and develop project tools and job aids, ensuring adherence to the branding and marking guidelines provided by the donor.
  5. Communication Planning:
    • Work with the Project Manager to develop and implement a communications plan that tracks and highlights project impact in the community.
  6. Social Media Management:
    • Maintain and create content for project blogs, news, and social media channels (e.g., Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook). Share updates regularly with the project management team.
  7. Report and Factsheet Dissemination:
    • Design and distribute factsheets and reports quarterly to stakeholders, providing updates on project progress and achievements.
  8. Technical Support for Documentation:
    • Provide photography, videography, editing, and production support for urgent documentation needs, high-impact success stories, case studies, and technical briefs that showcase the project’s achievements.
  9. Ad Hoc Support:
    • Respond promptly to communication-related requests from the Project Manager to support project objectives.

Job Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or Public Relations).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in both English and Swahili.
  • Proficiency in writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Advanced photography/videography skills and expertise with Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent software.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a results-oriented environment.
  • Proactive and service-oriented mindset.
