Finance Manager -KCB Investment Bank
This role is responsible for managing KCB Investment Banking Subsidiary end to end financial reporting processes, budgeting and planning, preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS, regulatory reporting in line with prudential guidelines and other regulatory requirements (CBK Regulatory guidelines, the Companies Act, NSE & CMA), Implementing internal controls over financial reporting and fixed assets management. The role holder will ensure that robust controls are maintained around the internal models to provide assurance on the accuracy and completeness of the Subsidiary financial statements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Strategic planning process including preparing budgets, estimates and forecasts in a timely manner and monitoring to ensure all costs are within budget.
- Ensure compliance to regulatory requirements including submission of required returns to CMA
- Preparation of monthly management accounts, quarterly board pack incorporating insights into the performance. This includes validating balances reported and providing analytical data for decision making.
- General Ledger Management; preparation of journal entries, monitoring and reconciliations of Bank accounts
- Treasury /Working capital management i.e. Efficient management of current assets (cash, receivables, inventory) and current liabilities (payables, accruals) and investment of excess funds.
- Supply chain management including payables, intercompany & tax – this includes compliance with expenditure controls, timely submission of tax, monitoring of payment GLs, intercompany reconciliation and supply chain management.
- Coordination of the annual audit process in liaison with external auditors and internal auditors and remediate significant deficiencies within the agreed timelines.
- Embed and implement robust controls and review processes through balance sheet reviews/substantiation to identify risk issues, track aged items and ensure closure and/or escalation of issues.
- Ensure adequate controls are in place for revenue assurance, expenditure and fixed asset cycles. Provide profitability positions for all cost/revenue centres.
- Scanning the operating environment for legislative/ regulatory changes and preparing impact analysis that provide insights for decision making.
- Daily review of general ledger to ensure balances are properly accounted.
- Review of Bank balances, suspense accounts to ensure proper reconciliation and that they are adequately funded.
- Track business performance against budgets and provide insights on risks and opportunities to the business.
- Scan the operating environment to identify opportunities for business improvement
- Ensure the day-to-day activities for the Finance function
The Person
For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university
- Master’s degree in business or a related field
- ICPAK Practicing Member
- CISI/ICIFA Certification
- Trustee Development Program of Kenya Certification
- ICIFA Practicing Member
- 5 Years of Total Minimum Experience
- 2 years in Business Performance Analysis and Reporting
- 4 years in Financial Reporting (IFRS)
- 3 years in Stakeholder Management
- 2 years in Tax Reporting
- 3 years in People Management
