Job Type: Three (3) Year Contract

Reporting To: Chief Executive Officer
Job Purpose
The Procurement Manager will lead the Procurement function, ensuring efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods, works, and services for the Bank. The role includes developing and implementing procurement strategies to ensure uninterrupted business operations. The manager will also oversee supplier performance, compliance, and inventory management while driving continuous improvements in the procurement process.
Key Responsibilities
As the Procurement Manager, your core responsibilities will include:
- Procurement Planning and Strategy Development
- Develop and execute annual procurement plans aligned with the Bank’s objectives.
- Advise the Bank on procurement-related matters to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and policies.
- Procurement Management
- Work collaboratively with department heads to identify cost-effective and reliable sources of goods and services.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory reports to relevant authorities.
- Supplier and Contract Management
- Monitor and manage supplier performance to ensure adherence to contracts, timelines, and quality standards.
- Administer contracts, manage pricing mechanisms, and address contract escalations effectively.
- Inventory and Cost Management
- Ensure efficient inventory management to prevent interruptions in the Bank’s operations.
- Implement innovative cost management strategies to achieve operational savings.
- Compliance and Performance Monitoring
- Track departmental performance against set objectives and prepare regular performance reports for senior management.
- Identify procurement process improvements and facilitate their implementation.
- Team Leadership and Development
- Foster a high-performing procurement team by providing professional development opportunities, training, and performance management.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Purchasing & Supply Management, or a related business field from a recognized university.
- Professional Qualifications: Certification from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply Management is required.
- Membership: Must be a registered member of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management.
- Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of managerial experience in procurement. Public procurement experience and familiarity with automated procurement systems are added advantages.
